SLIPKNOT Percussionist Clown to Miss Some Shows Due to Wife’s Health Issues

In a heartfelt announcement on social media, M. Shawn Crahan, co-founder and percussionist of SLIPKNOT, revealed that he will be taking a temporary break from the band’s upcoming shows. The decision comes as he prioritizes being by his wife’s side during her undisclosed health struggles.

Addressing SLIPKNOT‘s devoted fanbase, Clown expressed his gratitude and reassured them of his return to the stage soon. He wrote, “Hello to all of our fans, it’s the clown. I would like to take a moment to tell everyone that I’m back home supporting my wife through some health issues, and I’ll be back on the road as soon as I can. We’ve been through this before and as always, we appreciate the love and support. See all of you very soon.”

Despite this temporary setback, SLIPKNOT‘s summer European tour is still set to commence tonight at the Nova Rock festival in Austria. Fans can anticipate thrilling performances in Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Denmark, and more.

The End, So Far,” SLIPKNOT‘s latest album, released in September of last year through Roadrunner Records, will continue to be promoted during these shows. Serving as the band’s farewell album with Roadrunner, a label they joined in 1998, it follows the success of “We Are Not Your Kind.

SLIPKNOT fans eagerly await the return of M. Shawn Crahan and extend their support to him and his wife during this challenging time.

In a new interview with Kerrang!“Clown” discussed the possibility of SLIPKNOT touring at a slower pace in the future. He said: “The only god we’ve ever known is to get on the road, play our music and tour. I always wanted that salvation in my day. Growing up in an alcoholic family, music was the gift that helped me get out. But I can promise you that we won’t tour like we used to, because if we keep pushing like we used to, I don’t think we’ll be able to keep up.”

When asked what that might mean for SLIPKNOT then, Crahan said: “I can see smaller venues, with more dates. Wouldn’t it be great if we had seven days in New York City or London or anywhere, at a reasonably sized venue, and played every album in its entirety — with intros, outfits, production and everything from that time period? That could be cool. There are some songs we’ve never played live. Places we’ve never been. That’s unacceptable.”

In related news, Crahan recently revealed that this year may finally be the time for SLIPKNOT to make their unreleased “Look Outside Your Window” album available to fans.

In a talk with Upset magazine back in January, ‘Clown‘ discussed the project, saying: “It’s an amazing body of work. You will never hear another Corey Taylor like this. The music and the words… it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life.”

The percussionist added that SLIPKNOT have held off on releasing the record so that it didn’t interfere with the band’s other releases. ‘Clown‘ also hinted that the album could finally be made available to fans when SLIPKNOT‘s contract with Roadrunner Records runs out this Spring.

“We wouldn’t want Slipknot to hurt Look Outside Your Window, and we wouldn’t want Look Outside Your Window to be a little irritation to Slipknot. Why? Because it’s beautiful God art and people deserve it.

“The good news is that six months from now, April Fool’s Day 2023, we’re off the label. There are no plans to immediately release something, and we haven’t talked about it, but I would imagine it’ll probably come very soon afterwards. There’s nothing else to do, and it’s ready to go. It’ll be worth the wait.”
