Geezer Butler says he hasn’t spoken to Ozzy Osbourne since BLACK SABBATH’s final show in 2017
Speaking with Sonic Perspectives in a new interview, BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler was asked if he still stays in touch with Ozzy and other fellow original SABBATH members Tony Iommi and Bill Ward. He replied: “I stay in touch with Tony. Bill‘s not on the Internet. And I haven’t spoken to Ozzy since the last SABBATH gig [in 2017].”
Geezer Butler expanded on his current relationship with Iommi and lack of communication with Ozzy in a recent talk with Ultimate Classic Rock, saying: “Yeah, he’s (Tony Iommi) always been there for me. You know, he’s a good friend. We can slag each other to death. It’s like marriage, really. You have terrible arguments, you fall out and you come back together. But he’s always there. He always is. I hope he is after this book as well. I still love Bill [Ward], but he’s not on the Internet. If you want to talk to Bill, you have to e-mail his wife and she has to tell him. It’s really awkward. [Laughs] Ozzy I don’t speak to at all.”
In the interview, Butler confirmed that his and Ozzy’s wives are the reason the two no longer speak. In his book, he wrote: “Me and Ozzy are fine, it’s just that we’re both ruled by our wives. He’s got a big heart and was always there for me.”
Back in March, it was announced that Ozzy will join GUNS N’ ROSES, AC/DC, METALLICA, IRON MAIDEN and TOOL as one the headliners of the Goldenvoice-produced Power Trip festival, which will take place Friday, October 6 to Sunday, October 8 at the Empire Polo Club In Indio, California.
“Into The Void: From Birth To Black Sabbath – And Beyond” is being released on June 6 in North America via HarperCollins imprint Dey Street Books. The book will arrive in the United Kingdom on June 8.
