In the previous December, Paul Di’Anno dedicated his time to a recording venture in Split, Croatia, collaborating with his fresh musical endeavor known as WARHORSE. This group, which took shape earlier in the preceding year, was conceived by Di’Anno alongside the talents of two guitarists and songwriters, Hrvoje Madiraca and Ante “Pupi” Pupačić.
WARHORSE had already captured three tracks, two of which, namely “Stop The War” and “The Doubt Within,” saw the light of day in May 2022 as a distinctive DVD single. This release also encompassed a heartfelt video message from Paul, extending his gratitude to the fans who supported the single, consequently contributing to funding his recent knee operation.
Di’Anno‘s association with IRON MAIDEN witnessed the creation of two timeless albums: the eponymous debut in 1980 and “Killers” in 1981. His tenure, however, came to a close as he was succeeded by Bruce Dickinson. Subsequent to his MAIDEN years, he spearheaded various musical projects, including KILLERS and BATTLEZONE, while simultaneously delivering several solo endeavors.
Significantly, the WARHORSE single signified Paul Di’Anno‘s first musical release following a seven-year hiatus owing to significant health challenges.
Returning to the stage after his operation, Di’Anno‘s triumphant performance took place on October 1, 2022, at the Keep It True Rising II festival in Würzburg, Germany.
In December, Paul joined forces with the Greek guitar virtuoso Gus G., a prominent figure within rock and metal circles due to his contributions as Ozzy Osbourne‘s guitarist and his leadership of the band FIREWIND. Their collaborative effort resulted in three memorable concerts across Greece, featuring tracks from MAIDEN‘s inaugural two albums, “Iron Maiden” and “Killers.”
The month of May 2022 held a special encounter for Di’Anno, as he found himself in the company of MAIDEN‘s bassist Steve Harris, marking their first meeting in three decades, just prior to the band’s concert in Croatia.
