KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz explains how he reconnected with Howard Jones for a new project
During a conversation with Ore Bihovsky on the “Louder” radio show of TotalRock, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE‘s guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz unequivocally verified his involvement in a fresh collaborative endeavor alongside the band’s former vocalist Howard Jones.
“Yeah, me and Howard are doing a project together,” he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “He just hit me up. He was, like, ‘Why don’t you write some music for me?’ And I was, like, ‘Sure.’ So yeah, we’re working on a record right now.”
As for when we can expect to hear the new material, Adam said: “I’ve got so much on my plate right now. It’s really hard to schedule anything particularly, like ‘it’s gonna come out at this point,’ ‘it’s gonna come out at this point,’ but we’re just almost at a situation where we can maybe release a single. But I think the entire record’s gonna take a little bit longer than expected. Because now I have to do double duty and record [the next] KILLSWITCH [album] at the same time. So I’ll be doing that.”
When asked if there is a name for the new project, Adam said: “Not yet. It’s still very much in the works. We’ve got maybe four songs completed — absolutely completed. We’re trying to do an entire record, though.”
Last Friday, August 18, Jones took to his Instagram to share that they have already developed “13 demos” for the yet-to-be-named new musical project. The collective’s aim is to bring the project to fruition swiftly and finalize the album in the shortest possible timeframe.
Departing from KILLSWITCH ENGAGE in 2012, Jones navigated the challenges of manic depression and bipolar disorder. He subsequently embarked on a fresh journey by forming the DEVIL YOU KNOW alongside guitarist Francesco Artusato (formerly of ALL SHALL PERISH) and drummer John Sankey (previously of DEVOLVED). Alongside bassist Ryan Wombacher (formerly of BLEEDING THROUGH), the group crafted and performed two well-received albums, “The Beauty Of Destruction” in 2014 and “They Bleed Red” in 2015. The band underwent a name change in 2017, transitioning into LIGHT THE TORCH.
Notably, Jones made a guest appearance on KILLSWITCH ENGAGE‘s most recent album, “Atonement,” released in 2019. His contribution entailed guest vocals on the track “The Signal Fire.“
