SKID ROW Reunion Rumors Reignited: Sebastian Bach Hints at “Miscommunication”

Sebastian Bach, the iconic former frontman of SKID ROW, recently sparked reunion rumors with his appearance on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk” (May 10, 2024). When Eddie Trunk pressed about a potential reunion with his former bandmates, Bach revealed a surprising twist: a “major miscommunication” that could change everything.

This news comes after SKID ROW‘s newly ignited search for a new vocalist, following the departure of vocalist Erik Grönwall, who vacated his position within the band due to health reasons.

Bach said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I found out something at the very last KISS show that I did not know before the very last KISS show. And it’s a major piece of miscommunication. And I need to communicate with those guys because there’s been something that happened that is not accurate. I can’t tell you what it is, but the whole narrative of they don’t like me and I’m too crazy is complete bullshit. It’s not true. There’s been attempts to get us going again.

“I’m so focused on [my new] album [‘Child Within The Man’] and this tour that I haven’t had time to think about that,” he continued. “I can just tell the world that there’s a good chance that’ll happen ’cause there’s no fucking reason not to, ’cause right now why it hasn’t happened is a miscommunication. That’s all I can say. There’s a miscommunication. That’s all I can tell you.”

When asked if he is doing what he can to clear up those miscommunications and if he is willing to perform with SKID ROW again, Bach responded: “I play with everybody in the world. I’m in KINGS OF CHAOS. I’m in ROYAL MACHINES. I got 25 guys in my band. There’s no reason why I can’t play with them. But here’s the thing: I only have so much energy. At the age of 56…. Right now, I’m trying to talk as softly as I can because I have three [shows] in a row. I don’t have the fucking energy. I’m trying, I’m giving as much as I can.

“I need to write a thoughtful e-mail clearing up a miscommunication, but I have to make sure it’s the perfect fucking e-mail and I don’t say anything wrong or make any jokes,” he explained. “I just don’t have the energy to do that right now, but I know I need to do that. I’ve just got a lot on my plate right now.”

Discussing further his desire to reunite with his former band, Sebastian said: “I would love to do it. I have dreams about doing it. I have a recurring fucking nightmare where SKID ROW reunites, and I go to the gig, and I forget my in-ears. I’m backstage, and the whole arena’s packed, and Rachel [BolanSKID ROW bassist] and Snake [SKID ROW guitarist Dave Sabo], I go, ‘Fuck, you guys. Fuck, I’ve gotta go back to the hotel. I forgot my fucking in-ears.’ [Laughs] And I’m in the Uber, and I’m fucking racing, and the whole reunion’s happening.

He continued: “I’ve gotta get my fucking in-ears, and I can’t get the hotel key. So let’s analyze that, let’s analyze that shit right there that goes on in my head. And then I have these other dreams where we do a reunion show, and nothing happens. We just play, and then we walk off and we’re, like, ‘Right on.’ And there’s no fighting, there’s no drama, we just do a show. And there’s no, like, fighting or drama. And I told this to Rob [Affuso, former SKID ROW drummer]. He’s laughing. He’s, like, ‘Imagine that. Fucking imagine that. Just do a fucking show.’ It’s funny, these dreams I have. But the in-ear one is real.”

Sebastian recently spoke with Emma Jaye of Screamer Magazine, and said he thinks a reunion with his former group could still happen.

“There’s a whole narrative that we don’t get along, or they don’t wanna get in the same room as me,” he said. “There’s stuff that I have found out recently on the business side that I can tell the planet Earth this has nothing to do with what happened in ’96, or me being wild or us not getting along. This right now is a hundred percent a business thing.

“And I found some shit out that’s true. The only thing standing in our way is the business side of this. I can’t give you all the details, but it’s not about us not getting along. It’s about us figuring out how to make this work on the business side. And hopefully we can figure it out. I’m ready to figure it out, but the whole narrative of ‘oh, they don’t like him and he’s too crazy,’ that’s not even true.”

Bach also discussed his upcoming solo album, “Child Within The Man”, which is arriving on May 10 via Reigning Phoenix Music. He said: “I don’t want to make the exact same record over and over and over, but I guarantee you that if you like the first SKID ROW album and if you like ‘Slave To The Grind’, you will like ‘Child Within The Man’. It’s impossible not to, because I have a different bass player and I have a different drummer, and no disrespect to anybody, but I do the same thing as a vocalist. So, it’s kind of like WHITE ZOMBIE and ROB ZOMBIE; is there really a big difference?”

He continued: “Having said that, I would love one day to get back together with the old band and make new music. I am not cutting that off or putting that down in any way. I would love to do that someday, but this album is the next album in my catalog, which includes the albums I did with SKID ROW because I do the same thing.”

In a talk with Metal Hammer magazine last month,  Sebastian Bach revisited the longstanding issue of his absence from performing alongside the other original members of SKID ROW for almost three decades. He said: “For me, doing three albums with SKID ROW, I was just getting started. I didn’t think it would be over and done with so quick.”

When asked if he can see SKID ROW‘s classic lineup ever agreeing to a reunion, Sebastian replied: “I can definitely see that happening considering they play the same songs I play. When I get a substantial royalty check for an album I did with musicians that I haven’t been in the same room with since 1996, I feel like a piece of shit. Because we should be giving something back to the fans that have made this great life possible.”

SKID ROW recently parted ways with their vocalist, Erik GrönwallGrönwall, who battled acute lymphoblastic leukemia diagnosed in March 2021, decided to step down from the band to prioritize his health. His compromised immune system made the rigors of touring too challenging.

In light of Erik‘s concerns for his overall health and well-being, he has chosen to step back from the band’s rigorous touring lifestyle to focus on his recovery and personal life. Consequently, the band’s longtime friend Lzzy Hale of HALESTORM will temporarily assume vocal duties for their upcoming four concerts.

Expressing gratitude for their collaboration with Erik over the past two years, SKID ROW members acknowledge the achievements and creative endeavors they’ve shared. They extend their best wishes for Erik‘s health and future endeavors. Additionally, to commemorate their time together, the band plans to release a live album capturing the essence of the past two years, marking a significant chapter in SKID ROW‘s extensive 35-year history. Further details about the album will be announced soon.
