South Carolina Egyptian-themed death metal band NILE are working on their tenth studio album for a tentative 2024 release

Yesterday (October 16), NILE shared a video of frontman Karl Sanders recording vocals for the new record, and included the following caption: “We are diligently working every day on vocals for the upcoming album, it’s going to be brutal.”

In a July 2022 interview with Guitar World magazine, Sanders disclosed that he and his fellow band members had already crafted ten songs for their upcoming album, following their 2019 release, “Vile Nilotic Rites.” During the same month, NILE made headlines by announcing the departure of their bassist and vocalist, Brad Parris.

NILE‘s current lineup features Sanders, who takes on both guitar and vocal duties, the exceptionally skilled Kollias behind the drum kit, and Brian Kingsland, a member since 2017, contributing with his guitar prowess and vocals. As they continue to tour, Julian David Guillen steps in as the band’s bassist and vocalist.

Originally hailing from Greenville, South Carolina, the band has carved its name into the annals of international death metal, earning widespread reverence in the global heavy metal scene. Their distinctive style seamlessly melds elements of traditional and technical death metal, all while weaving their signature blend of Ancient Egyptian and Near Eastern soundscapes alongside historical mysticism.

Their 2019 offering, “Vile Nilotic Rites,” was unleashed via Nuclear Blast in November of that year. Sanders led the charge in recording and production at Serpent Headed Studios in Greenville, South Carolina. The drums, however, were recorded at Esoteron Music Studios in Athens, Greece, with engineering entrusted to Jim Touras and George Dovolos.

The album received its finishing touches through the expert mixing and mastering skills of Mark Lewis at MRL Studios. In a harmonious reunion with artist Michal “Xaay” Loranc, who had collaborated with the band for over a decade, NILE sought his artistic talents to craft the album’s cover artwork.

Continuing their journey, NILE signed a global contract with Napalm Records in September 2021, setting the stage for their future endeavors.
