MAMMOTH WVH mainman Wolfgang Van Halen had the DJ at his wedding play MESHUGGAH tunes
As reported by People, Wolfgang Van Halen, the 32-year-old son of the iconic guitarist Eddie Van Halen, celebrated his wedding to fiancée Andraia Allsop on Sunday, October 15. The heartfelt ceremony took place at their Los Angeles residence.
In a poignant tribute to his late father, Wolfgang was accompanied down the aisle by his mother, the acclaimed actress Valerie Bertinelli, to a moving melody composed by his father. Eddie Van Halen, a legendary figure in the music world, sadly passed away three years ago after a valiant battle with cancer. “The song that my father had written for me, it’s an instrumental piece called ‘316’. It’ll be a nice way to include my dad,” Wolfgang told People.
For their reception, the couple made a unique choice by hiring a DJ. Wolfgang playfully mentioned that their wedding playlist might include some rather unconventional song selections.
“I’m sure our DJ is going to look at some of these songs and be like, ‘What?’ he told People. Andraia added: “When I talked to our DJ, he was very excited about our vision. The one thing that I want, I want Wolfie to have his moment of one of his favorite bands, MESHUGGAH.”
Wolfgang explained: They’re very progressive metal, I think to anybody, to the non-informed crowd though, it would probably just sound like death metal. Anyone over 40 will be terrified. But you know what? It’s my wedding and I’ll do whatever I want.”
In July 2022, Wolfgang shared the joyous news of his engagement to Andraia. With an exuberant tweet, he posted a selfie of the two, jubilantly exclaiming, “She said yes!!”
The couple’s journey of love has spanned nearly eight years, with their bond growing stronger over time. In April 2022, they graced the 64th annual Grammy Awards with their presence, showcasing their enduring connection and shared experiences.
Andraia‘s academic journey led her to graduate from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science. She has since embarked on a career as a software engineer, displaying her prowess in the tech industry.
Notably, Allsop showcases her artistic talents through her photography, maintaining an Instagram account dedicated to her visual creations. Among her subjects, she captures captivating moments from Van Halen’s concerts, providing a unique and personal perspective on these electrifying performances.
On the musical front, MAMMOTH WVH made waves with the release of their sophomore album, “II,” in August, courtesy of BMG. The album reflects their continuous artistic evolution and showcases their commitment to delivering exceptional music.
Wolfgang has not only demonstrated his musical prowess but also his eclectic taste. In a revealing interview this past July with Primordial Radio, he expressed his deep appreciation for the extreme Swedish metal band, citing their music as a source of relaxation, even to the point of being able to fall asleep while listening to it.
“If you’re familiar with MESHUGGAH, you probably know the song ‘Bleed’.
“MESHUGGAH is just one of my favorite bands,” he continued. “They are unbelievably heavy — there’s nothing heavier than them — but you get lulled into their rhythm. As a drummer first, I just am in love with rhythmic music, and there’s nothing more rhythmic than MESHUGGAH.
“After hearing [‘Bleed’], you probably couldn’t fall asleep to that, but, man, I could, ’cause I love it,” he added.
