The Baltimore-based group, established back in 1977, made the decision to bid farewell during their appearance at the M3 Rock Festival held at the Merriweather Post Pavilion on May 7.

Drummer Jimmy Chalfant, reuniting with his KIX bandmates, made a memorable return to the stage on April 30, aboard this year’s Monsters Of Rock cruise. This marked his first live performance with KIX since he had collapsed onstage. Chalfant also graced the stage with KIX at the M3 Rock Festival.

However, on November 18, 2022, Chalfant faced a serious health scare when he suffered a cardiac arrest during KIX‘s concert at the Tally Ho Theater in Leesburg, Virginia. Chalfant was rendered unconscious and had to be taken offstage before the final song of the show.

KIX, a band with roots dating back to 1977, released their debut, self-titled album on Atlantic Records over four decades ago. Their big breakthrough came with the 1988 release of “Blow My Fuse,” an album that nearly sold a million copies, largely due to the hit “Don’t Close Your Eyes.” The band continued to ride the wave of hard rock success until 1995 when they took a hiatus.

Almost a decade later, KIX regrouped and began touring in regional circuits. Their performance at the 2008 Rocklahoma festival opened doors to more gigs, and in 2012, they released a live DVD/CD titled “Live In Baltimore.” In 2014, KIX made a strong comeback with their seventh full-length album, “Rock Your Face Off,” marking their first studio effort since 1995’s “Show Business.” The album achieved impressive chart positions, including debuting at No. 1 on Amazon’s Hard Rock and Metal chart, reaching the Top 50 on the Billboard 200 chart, and landing high positions on various other music charts.
