THY ART IS MURDER Welcomes New Vocalist Tyler Miller from AVERSIONS CROWN
In a recent development, THY ART IS MURDER, the Australian metal powerhouse, has announced the addition of Tyler Miller, hailing from fellow Australian metallers AVERSIONS CROWN, as their new vocalist. This revelation came to light as Miller made his debut with THY ART IS MURDER during the opening show of the band’s European tour, which took place at Turbinenhalle 2 in Oberhausen, Germany, on Wednesday, September 27th.
The decision to bring in Tyler Miller came just days after THY ART IS MURDER parted ways with their longtime vocalist, Chris “CJ” McMahon. Notably, the band clarified that McMahon‘s vocals are not featured on their recently released album, “Godlike,” which was unveiled on September 22nd through Human Warfare. Instead, the new vocalist had already completed re-recording vocals for the album in the preceding week.
AVERSIONS CROWN, Miller‘s former band, released their latest album, “Hell Will Come For Us All,” in 2020 through Nuclear Blast.
THY ART IS MURDER had been relatively inactive on social media for a year prior to this announcement. This silence followed AVERSIONS CROWN‘s cancellation of a U.S. tour due to difficulties in securing the necessary work visas to enter the country.
The decision to part ways with Chris “CJ” McMahon came about a month after he temporarily deleted and then reinstated his social media accounts in response to backlash received for posting a transphobic comment on Instagram. In a show of solidarity with the transgender community, the other members of THY ART IS MURDER posted a trans flag on Instagram with a message that read, “Setting the record straight, we stand with you.” On September 22nd, THY ART IS MURDER officially announced McMahon‘s removal from the band and confirmed the removal of his contributions from the “Godlike” album.
It’s worth noting that Chris “CJ” McMahon had joined THY ART IS MURDER in 2009, taking over as vocalist after Brendan Van Ryn left the band the previous year.
