TESTAMENT teases new album in the works, set to release in 2024
It’s been a while since thrash metal titans TESTAMENT unleashed their last studio album, “Titans of Creation“. However, the band has been far from dormant, engaging in various activities that have set the stage for an exciting new chapter in their storied career.
In a recent Instagram post, the thrash metal icons provided a glimpse behind the scenes, sharing a photo of vocalist Chuck Billy alongside mastering engineer Justin Shturtz at the renowned Sterling Sound Studios in Nashville. The post hints at the band’s ongoing work on their highly anticipated upcoming album, which is expected to drop sometime in 2024.
“We turned Nashville into Thrashville at Sterling Sound with Justin Shturtz this weekend,” writes the band. “Get ready Legions!”
Last June, guitarist Eric Peterson revealed that TESTAMENT had already crafted five or six new songs for the album. The band has maintained a steady pace of progress, re-signing with Nuclear Blast for three more albums and regaining control of their extensive catalog, making all their previous material available once again on streaming services.
A notable development for the upcoming LP is the presence of drummer Chris Dovas, who stepped in to replace Dave Lombardo earlier this year. Lombardo, who joined TESTAMENT in 2022 after the departure of Gene Hoglan, unfortunately, never had the opportunity to record with the band.
Chris Dovas, known for his work with SEVEN SPIRES, has been impressing fans with his live performances, and anticipation is high to witness his contribution to TESTAMENT‘s new material. The upcoming release will mark the first studio album featuring Dovas, adding an extra layer of excitement for fans eagerly awaiting the band’s latest sonic onslaught.
