TESTAMENT guitarist Eric Peterson recently revealed that he and drummer Chris Dovas are back at work on new material for the band’s next studio album
Yesterday (Thursday, November 16), Peterson uploaded a photo of himself and Dovas in the studio to social media which included the caption: “Busy week finished, straight after the Asian tour Chris Dovas and I locked ourselves in the #dragonlair and jammed out 4 new crushing song ideas & crushing #riffs! Super thrashing drums… so stoked New recordings coming soon!”
Back in July, Peterson said that he and Dovas had spent some time banging out material for TESTAMENT‘s next studio album, posting a few photos on Instagram and including the caption: “Had a very productive week with the kid! Mr. @chrisdovas and I worked up new 7 jam ideas ranging from thrash to nwobhm mixed in w/ black thrash to dark heavy hard rock blues…let’s see what happens! super stoked so far!”
Dovas also posted the pics to his social media and added: “New TESTAMENT material in the works! Eric and I have been working hard all week on new ideas. Stoked so far!”
Previous drummer Dave Lombardo, who contributed as a guest drummer on TESTAMENT‘s 1999 studio album “The Gathering,” officially became a member of the enduring San Francisco Bay Area band last year. The former SLAYER drummer is presently associated with several musical projects, including the MISFITS, MR. BUNGLE, EMPIRE STATE BASTARD, and SATANIC PLANET, among others. Additionally, he was part of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES from 2016 until 2020.
Before assuming a permanent role with TESTAMENT, Dovas stepped in for Lombardo on the initial six dates of TESTAMENT‘s summer/fall 2022 leg of “The Bay Strikes Back Tour.” Lombardo was unable to participate in these performances due to a scheduling conflict with the MISFITS.
