Anything can happen at a metal concert. For example: let’s look at a recent show in Texas which featured a real, severed pig’s head being thrown into the pit
Last Friday night, on January 19th, in Houston, TX, a metal concert at the White Swan took a gruesome turn as a severed pig’s head soared through the crowd. Headlining the show was extreme metal band DEVOURED TRACHEA, along with ACCOSTED, YUNG JITT, STICK! and others. The evening’s festivities certainly took a turn for the macabre in footage captured buy fans which can be seen below. The dark journey of an unfortunate animal’s head among rabid concertgoers is footage one simply does not get to view all that often. Discretion is somewhat advised.
Now, the exact moment of the pig’s head launch still remains a mystery, with the original poster later reflecting, “black metal bands are crazy; I witnessed some of these youngsters licking the pig head, guts splattering on people, diseases spreading 😭😭.”
Of course, numerous repostings and tweets would follow. Everything from angry vegans to devil-horn raising metal purists would go on to comment on the somewhat revolting incident.
Even the Californian band DIMEBAG chimed in, sharing images from their own past encounters with a pig’s head during concerts, which you can also be below should you so desire.
That being said, the presence of deceased animals and their dismembered parts in metal shows is nothing new. From Ozzy Osbourne‘s infamous bat-biting incident to black metal band MAYHEM‘s onstage antics involving a pig’s head and fellow extreme metallers WATAIN practically hosting their own concert abattoir; the relationship between metal and decomposing animal parts has a long, often unsettling history. And when it comes to SLIPKNOT, best not to inquire about their notorious dealings with rotting animals prior to live performances.
