During the recent concert held by FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH in Cheyenne, Wyoming on July 26, a special moment unfolded as the band’s frontman, Ivan Moody, was honored with the key to the city
This 43-year-old singer, who decided to make Cheyenne his home in June of this year, received the prestigious key from none other than Cheyenne’s mayor, Patrick Collins. The heartwarming event took place during the Cheyenne Frontier Days festival, where Mayor Collins joined the band on stage for the presentation. The key was awarded to Ivan in recognition of his invaluable support to the Cheyenne community. You can watch the video below.
Collins said in part (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “We’ve never had a Cheyenne resident headline this concert, or any concert. That is, until today.
“I wanted to give Ivan an honor for some of the things he does… What I love about Ivan Moody is he moved to Cheyenne and he’s telling his story about sobriety and mental health, and he’s doing something about it. He’s opening a treatment center for people, and his mission is to find those people who are wandering, not sure where they’re going and help them find that sobriety and mental health. And so tonight I wanna give Ivan Moody the key to the city and thank him for his work and what he’s doing for this great city.”
Moody told the crowd upon receiving the honor: “I grew up right down the road in a little city called Arvada, Colorado. And I watched my city piece by piece get bought and sold, and I’ve gotta be honest with you, when I go back there, I don’t even recognize certain parts. But when I come up here to Cheyenne, I see one of the last standing true pieces of Americana in this country.”
Later in the show, prior to performing a cover of BAD COMPANY‘s “Bad Company” with his FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH bandmates, Moody told the audience: “The greatest part about Cheyenne? There’s no division. And at a FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH show, we share that fucking concept. Because here, there is no left, and there is no right. Here, at a FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH show, there is only bad company.”
On July 15, Ivan Moody celebrated the grand opening of his new Cheyenne ventures with a fantastic block party-style event held at Moody’s Rock Stop. This one-of-a-kind establishment is not your typical convenience store and fueling station; it’s a rock and roll-inspired hub designed for people to “recharge” in their daily lives. The celebration was a blast, featuring live music, mouthwatering food trucks, and exciting opportunities to win free tickets to the upcoming FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and PAPA ROACH show at Cheyenne Frontier Days.
Located at 901 W. Pershing Blvd., Moody’s Rock Stop goes beyond ordinary shopping. Apart from offering various merchandise, it proudly carries the rock star’s personally curated line of specialized products. Moreover, it stands out as the only gas station in the military town to provide discounts to current and former armed service members, a cause that Ivan passionately supports.
But Ivan‘s contributions to the community don’t stop there. On the same date, July 15, he also inaugurated Ciara Coral, a much-needed intensive outpatient facility dedicated to addressing addiction and mental health disorders. Located at 433 E. 19th St. #2, this facility is committed to crafting personalized treatment plans for every individual it serves. Ivan has been transparent about his own struggles with addiction and mental health, and through Ciara Coral, he aspires to extend a helping hand to others, providing them with the support and care they need on their journey to recovery.
