ZEBRA are back and have announced a run of U.S. tour dates in commemoration of their debut album arriving 40 years ago
40 years ago, ZEBRA released its acclaimed self-titled debut album, selling out shows everywhere becoming one of Atlantic Records‘ fastest-rising stars. The record was quickly certified gold within a few short months.
In celebration of that 1983 release, due to overwhelming demand, ZEBRA has announced a second leg of its nationwide tour including a return to the West Coast, performing the entire ZEBRA debut record from top to bottom, in order, along with other fan favorites and deep cuts from their entire catalog.
A ZEBRA documentary is also in the works spanning their nearly half a century career, which will feature never-before-seen footage from their humble beginnings in Louisiana, to sprouting new roots on Long Island; the planned hometown Huntington, New York and New Orleans shows will be filmed for this future release.

Emerging from the vibrant heart of New Orleans in the early days of 1975, the trio that is ZEBRA burst forth onto the scene with a creative fervor. Comprising the talents of Randy Jackson, Felix Hanemann, and Guy Gelso, they artfully derived their distinctive name from the pages of a 1926 Vogue magazine cover. Swiftly and decisively, they captivated audiences across the Southern and Eastern corridors of the United States.
The eponymous debut album of ZEBRA, unveiled on the 21st of March, 1983, achieved a resplendent milestone by attaining gold status. This feat was bolstered by the tracks “Tell Me What You Want” and “Who’s Behind The Door?” which found resonance on both radio waves and the visual allure of MTV. Notably, this marked a significant juncture as the album secured the distinction of being the swiftest-selling inaugural record in the annals of Atlantic Records.
Presenting an embodiment of their musical essence, ZEBRA‘s live renditions are a testament to their enduring legacy. In a special commemorative gesture for this year alone, their performances will exclusively showcase the entirety of their debut album, a first in their career. Anticipate being enveloped by the timeless melodies of “Who’s Behind The Door?“, the compelling allure of “Tell Me What You Want“, the nostalgic embrace of “Wait Until The Summer’s Gone“, the anthemic resonance of “Bears“, and the poignant sentiment of “One More Chance“. To further amplify the experience, expect awe-inspiring interpretations of LED ZEPPELIN classics, a homage that adds an extra layer of resonance to their mesmerizing repertoire.
