Formed in 2002 in Riverside, California, SUICIDE SILENCE emerged as a prominent force in the deathcore genre.

The band’s founding members included vocalist Mitch Lucker, guitarist Chris Garza, drummer Josh Goddard, bassist Mike Bodkins, and lead guitarist Rick Ash. They quickly gained attention for their aggressive and brutal sound that combined elements of death metal and hardcore.

After a few early lineup changes, the band solidified with the addition of bassist Dan Kenny and drummer Alex Lopez. Their debut album, “The Cleansing,” released in 2007, marked a turning point for the band. With its bone-crushing heaviness and Lucker‘s distinctive vocals, the album became a cornerstone of the deathcore genre and garnered them a devoted fanbase.

Over the years, SUICIDE SILENCE continued to refine their sound and build their reputation as a live powerhouse through relentless touring. Their subsequent albums, including “No Time to Bleed” (2009), “The Black Crown” (2011), and “You Can’t Stop Me” (2014), showcased their evolution while maintaining their aggressive roots.

Tragically, in 2012, vocalist Mitch Lucker passed away in a motorcycle accident. The band, faced with the devastating loss of their frontman, held a memorial show and later announced a tribute concert featuring guest vocalists. Ultimately, Eddie Hermida of ALL SHALL PERISH stepped in as the new lead vocalist, and SUICIDE SILENCE released “You Can’t Stop Me” in 2014 as a tribute to Lucker’s memory.

The band continued to evolve their sound, experimenting with various elements while staying true to their intense style. Albums like “Doris” (2017), their self-titled release (2020) and “Remember…You Must Die” (2023) showcased a broader musical range, incorporating clean vocals and different influences.

Throughout their career, Suicide Silence the band faced both praise and criticism for their genre-blurring approach, but they remained a central figure in the deathcore scene. Their impact on heavy music is undeniable, as they pushed the boundaries of the genre and left an indelible mark on the landscape of modern metal.

Hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah, CHELSEA GRIN formed in 2007, becoming a notable presence in the deathcore realm. Their early lineup included vocalist Alex Koehler, guitarist Michael Stafford, bassist Austin Marticorena, and drummer Andrew Carlston. Known for their intense sound characterized by heavy breakdowns and Koehler‘s distinctive growls, they quickly gained attention.

Throughout their career, CHELSEA GRIN underwent lineup changes, with members joining and departing. Despite these shifts, they maintained their aggressive sound and kept touring relentlessly. Their music often explored dark themes and showcased a blend of technical prowess and raw energy.

In 2018, the band experienced a significant change as vocalist Alex Koehler left due to health issues. This marked a turning point for the band as they welcomed Tom Barber, formerly of LORNA SHORE, as their new lead vocalist. The transition brought a fresh dynamic to their music.

As a key player in the deathcore genre, CHELSEA GRIN‘s evolution and resilience have solidified their position within the heavy music landscape. Through lineup changes and sonic exploration, they’ve maintained a loyal fanbase and continue to push the boundaries of their genre.
