Legendary New York death metal pioneers, SUFFOCATION, are gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated ninth full-length album, titled “Hymns From The Apocrypha,” set to drop on November 3 through Nuclear Blast

This forthcoming record follows their 2017 release, “…Of The Dark Light,” and marks a significant milestone as it introduces new vocalist Ricky Myers. With this addition, SUFFOCATION pushes the boundaries of extremity, delivering what can be considered their most sonically punishing and compelling album to date.

Today, the band treats fans to a sneak peek of the album with the ferocious track titled “Seraphim Enslavement.” Accompanying this brutal auditory assault is a menacing music video, directed and edited by Tom Flynn, featuring character design by Kyle Monroe. The video serves as a perfect visual complement to Myers‘s monstrous vocal performance.

Bassist Derek Boyer comments: “This is my fifth full-length studio album with SUFFOCATION and this album came out SICK! It features all of the brutal, technical, chaotic twists and turns everyone would expect from SUFFOCATION, plus new elements that are out of the normal realm one might expect. This is the sophomore effort of working with Christian Donaldson (who mixed and mastered ‘Live In North America’) and he absolutely KILLED IT on this one!!! We can’t wait to bring these songs to the stage and crush everything in our path!”

Myers states: “We are thrilled to unveil our 11th full-length album, ‘Hymns From The Apocrypha’, a creatively composed piece that blends our style of music with lyrical depth and intricate artwork. This album is a testament to our devotion to brutal music, which we display in the video of our single, ‘Seraphim Enslavement’, a visual journey that complements the album’s concept.”

To create “Hymns From The Apocrypha,” SUFFOCATION dedicated about a month and a half to the recording process. They sequestered themselves at Hobbs‘s and Boyer‘s InLine Studio in Long Island, where the duo served as engineers and co-producers. Christian Donaldson (known for his work with BENEATH THE MASSACRE and INGESTED) was enlisted for mixing and mastering duties, with assistance from Dominic Grimard (credited for his work with CRYPTOPSY and SHADOW OF INTENT).

The album’s stunning cover art, designed by Greek illustrator Giannis Nakos of Remedy Art Design (noted for his work with VOMITORY and THE CROWN), encapsulates the unmistakable essence of SUFFOCATION – unapologetically brutal, artistically audacious, and sonically weighty.

SUFFOCATION is gearing up for an eventful fall season, embarking on a six-date “Darkness Within Mexico” tour, followed by the “Ancient Unholy Rising” tour in 2023 alongside co-headliners INCANTATION. The extensive 26-date journey kicks off on November 7 in Baltimore, crisscrossing North America with performances in Montreal, Seattle, Houston, and concluding in Greensboro on December 4. SKELETAL REMAINS and STABBING are set to join the bands as opening acts, promising a relentless and unforgettable experience for death metal aficionados.
