German authorities have launched an investigation into Till Lindemann, the lead singer of the band RAMMSTEIN, following allegations of sexual assault and drug-related incidents
The probe was initiated by prosecutors in Berlin on June 14, as reported by Barron’s. Consequently, RAMMSTEIN‘s concert after-parties in Berlin have been canceled.
A spokesperson for the Berlin public prosecution’s office stated that preliminary proceedings have been initiated against Till Lindemann based on allegations of sexual offenses and drug distribution. The investigation was launched at the discretion of the prosecutors, in response to several criminal complaints filed by third parties.
The allegations came to light when a fan, who attended the iconic German group’s concert in Vilnius, Lithuania, shared her experience on social media platforms last month, claiming she was drugged during the pre-party, after being invited by a member of the band’s team. Additionally, she alleged that she was solicited to engage in sexual activity with Till beneath the stage during one of the show’s interludes, which she declined.
Although the woman stated that she was not sexually assaulted, she presented evidence of bruises through photos and videos taken the morning after the concert. She also reported feeling ill throughout the day, despite not consuming excessive amounts of alcohol the night previous.
Following the viral posts, several other women made similar accusations against Till on various social media platforms, as reported by Barron’s. RAMMSTEIN responded to these allegations on May 28, denying their validity and stating that they were not aware of any official investigations into the matter.
In the wake of the accusations, Lindemann‘s publisher, Kiepenheuer & Witsch, terminated their relationship with the musician. The publisher cited a pornographic video involving the singer that depicted sexual violence against women, linking it to a book they had published in 2013. They deemed it inappropriate and severed ties with him as a client.
On June 3, the band released another statement on their social media addressing the allegations. They expressed their concern and took the accusations seriously, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe and comfortable environment for their fans. The band condemned any form of misconduct and urged people not to engage in prejudiced judgment against those making allegations. RAMMSTEIN also asserted their right not to be unfairly prejudiced.
At present, no further information is available regarding the ongoing investigation into Till Lindemann.
