QUEEN drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May have revealed that they intend to unveil a previously unreleased song featuring their late singer Freddie Mercury.

The song was reportedly recorded back in 1988 during the studio sessions for QUEEN‘s 13th studio album, “The Miracle“.

While speaking with BBC Radio 2 prior to QUEEN‘s performance with Adam Lambert for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee concert over the weekend, Taylor said: “We did find a little gem from Freddie that we’d kind of forgotten about. And it’s wonderful. Actually, it was a real discovery. It’s from ‘The Miracle‘ sessions and I think it’s going to be out in September.”

When the pair were asked who found the QUEEN song, titled “Face It Alone“, Brian May replied: “It was kind of hiding in plain sight. We looked at it many times and thought, ‘Oh no, we can’t really rescue that.’ But in fact, we went in there again and our wonderful engineering team went, ‘Okay, we can do this and this.’ It’s like stitching bits together. But it’s beautiful. It’s touching.”

Taylor added: “It’s a very passionate piece.”

Freddie Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS in 1987 and eventually succumbed to the disease in November 1991 leaving behind an incredible legacy as one of music’s greatest frontmen.
