NIGHTWISH has successfully wrapped up the recording of demos for their highly anticipated tenth studio album

The band is eagerly gearing up to enter the studio shortly to commence the official tracking process for an exciting release scheduled for 2024.

Over the weekend (July29), the NIGHTWISH social media platform delighted fans with a captivating photo showcasing Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards), Emppu Vuorinen (guitar), Kai Hahto (drums), and Jukka Koskinen (bass) gathered at an undisclosed location in Finland. Accompanied by the thrilling announcement, the message read: “Demos for album no. 10 are now complete! We are happy, and guess what? Recording is next!” Anticipation among fans is running high as the renowned band progresses towards crafting their latest musical masterpiece.

Last December, Tumoas Holopainen revealed that the upcoming album from NIGHTWISH would mark the third part of a trilogy, commencing with the 2015 release “Endless Forms Most Beautiful.” He revealed to Metal Hammer:  “I immediately knew after getting that album [‘Endless Forms Most Beautiful’] done that, ‘Okay, we have to do more songs about this, because there’s so much more to explore and tell the world. We’re not done with this.’ And the same thing happened after ‘Human. :II: Nature.’; we’re still not done. So let’s do one more. At least one more.

“In a way, [the next album] is the third part of a trilogy, which started with ‘Endless Forms…’ and then ‘Human. :II: Nature.’ There are some major surprises there again, but it feels like a natural continuation to ‘Human. :II: Nature.’

The band’s visionary stated that the forthcoming LP would venture into unexplored territories while retaining the cinematic essence that has become a hallmark of their recent works, saying: “The wonderful thing is that we have had the demo [of the album] done since last spring. So it’s been done for six months now. We really have all the time in the world to go through it all, and we have had a such great time with the band, just listening to the demo in our hotel rooms — me singing the lyrics and the melodies to Floor [Jansen, vocals]. She’s recording them and then she’s seeing them and throwing ideas to each other.”

Human. :II: Nature.,” launched in April 2020, served as the sequel to “Endless Forms Most Beautiful,” encompassing nine tracks on the primary CD and an epic, multi-chaptered composition on CD 2.

In a significant development, NIGHTWISH declared the official inclusion of Koskinen (WINTERSUN) as a band member in August 2022. Koskinen, who had previously performed with NIGHTWISH as a session musician, made his live debut with them in May 2021 during two immersive experiences.

In April, NIGHTWISH disclosed their decision to take a break from touring and stated that they would not embark on a tour in support of their forthcoming studio album. The band clarified that this decision was motivated by personal reasons critical to the well-being and future of the group. They assured fans that despite the break, the love for working together remains strong, and the choice has no relation to Floor‘s pregnancy or individual projects. On a positive note, the band eagerly revealed that an album featuring 12 new songs would see the light of day in 2024, accompanied by the release of three music videos. NIGHTWISH expressed boundless enthusiasm for this new musical journey that lies ahead.
