Mike Portnoy has confirmed that he will play drums for TWISTED SISTER when the band reunites to perform at the sixth annual Metal Hall Of Fame charity event later this month
Portnoy and legendary guitarist Steve Vai are set to induct TWISTED SISTER into the Metal Hall Of Fame, which goes down on January 26 at The Canyon club in Agoura Hills, California. The band’s classic lineup up of ‘s Dee Snider (vocals), Jay Jay French (guitar), Eddie Ojeda (guitar), Mark Mendoza (bass) and late drummer A.J Pero will be immortalized within the hall, while a reunion performance by the group’s surviving members is also slated to go down.
During a recent appearance on “The Chuck Shute Podcast“, Portnoy confirmed that he will be getting behind the drumkit for the reunion performance, adding that “we’ve known that we’re playing for months now. I think it was only kind of made public [a few days ago].”
He continued: “Steve Vai and myself are inducting them into this Metal Hall Of Fame, and then we’ll be performing a few songs there at the ceremony.”
Five days ago, guitarist Eddie Ojeda revealed the following news via his Twitter account: “Looking forward to our induction into the Heavy Metal Hall of Fame on Jan.26th 2023 in LA”. Soon after, Dee Snider added: “Looking forward to playing together for the first time since 2016…especially the rehearsal!”
Proceeds from the annual Metal Hall Of Fame charity gala go to the non-profit organization D.A.D. (Drums And Disabilities). D.A.D. brings free music programs and therapy services to help special needs children and wounded veterans in various health facilities and community centers.
