Dave Mustaine, the frontman of MEGADETH, who has resided outside of Nashville, Tennessee for the previous nine years, has unveiled his latest venture: the acquisition of a new residence in Italy
During MEGADETH‘s August 27 set at the AMA Music Festival in in Vicenza, Italy, Mustaine told the crowd (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I have something very special I need to tell you guys… A couple of weeks ago I just bought a house in Italy. So think about that — you wake up tomorrow morning and you see me out your window, and I’m walking with my boxes. And you go, ‘Fuck, man, that looks like Dave Mustaine. Look at all those guitars. Shit, that’s gotta be him.'”
He continued: “I’ve gotta tell you, I am so excited to be able to call Italy a new place for us to live. And I wanna thank you all for your graciousness and helping teach me how to be a good resident here and to learn how to live the Italian life.”
Later in the concert, the MEGADETH frontman added: “What I said about me moving over here is true. And I’m really excited to live in Italy when we do. We’re gonna keep our residency in the States, but we are gonna be living here. And we really look forward to meeting a lot of you. And I think we’re gonna have a lot of fun together.”
Operating under the name House Of Mustaine, a boutique wine venture led by Dave‘s daughter Electra and his wife Pamela, emerged less than a decade ago in Southern California and has now expanded its presence to the picturesque Le Marche region of Italy. This enterprise is dedicated to crafting wines that embody a sense of hidden charm, sourced from a diverse array of vineyards, ranging from those rooted in sustainability and organics to ancient plots.
In May 2019, Mustaine accomplished the sale of his Fallbrook, California estate for a sum of $2,000,000. The journey to this point involved a series of price adjustments: Dave initially listed the property in October 2015 for an ambitious $5.375 million, a valuation that significantly surpassed his purchase price from three years prior. Subsequent price reductions followed suit: a decrease of almost $1.5 million in June 2016 to $3.895 million, a further decline of $700,000 in January 2017 to $3.195 million, an additional $20,000 shaved off in June 2017 to reach $3.175 million, and continued adjustments down to $2,800,000 by December 2017, $2,650,000 in July 2018, and ultimately landing at $2,325,000 in January 2019.
In October of 2014, Mustaine and his family made the transition from their long-term residence in Fallbrook to Tennessee.
Subsequently, in September 2019, Mustaine decided to place their family home in Franklin, Tennessee on the real estate market, setting an asking price of $2.5 million. However, in April 2020, as the global impact of the coronavirus outbreak intensified, he chose to withdraw the property from the market.
