Former JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing’s new band, KK’S PRIEST, is gearing up to unleash their second album, “The Sinner Rides Again,” scheduled for release on September 29 through Napalm Records
In anticipation of this eagerly awaited album, the band has unveiled a captivating 13-minute documentary film, directed by the up-and-coming British filmmaker Sam Singer. This intimate documentary captures the essence of KK’S PRIEST as they prepare for their first official show in July at KK’s Steel Mill in Wolverhampton, England. The film offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the band’s preparations, complete with exclusive live performances and personal insights from K.K. Downing, KK’S PRIEST‘s vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens, and their fellow bandmates.
With “The Sinner Rides Again,” KK’S PRIEST, a powerhouse heavy metal ensemble comprising iconic JUDAS PRIEST alumni and Grammy Award-winning/nominated musicians K.K. Downing and Tim “Ripper” Owens, along with guitarist A.J. Mills (HOSTILE), bassist Tony Newton (VOODOO SIX), and drummer Sean Elg (DEATHRIDERS, CAGE), continues to deliver the powerful, melodic force that fans have come to expect. Their debut was lauded by Metal Hammer U.K. as “hugely enjoyable” and praised by Metal Injection for its “catchy hooks and plenty of guitar wizardry.” The new album consists of nine tracks of pure heavy metal fury, produced and penned by Downing, and impeccably mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen.
“The Sinner Rides Again” kicks off with a haunting introduction of dual guitars in “Sons Of The Sentinel,” leading into a relentless barrage of burning riffs, dynamic guitar solos, and unstoppable energy. The track “Strike Of The Viper” stands out as an unforgettable anthem, followed by the classic heavy metal power of “Reap The Whirlwind,” featuring soaring leads, hair-raising harmonics, and infectious vocal hooks. The album’s first single, “One More Shot At Glory,” sets the stage for battle with its commanding riff and invigorating verses, complemented by a spine-tingling guitar solo.
The album continues with “Hymn 66,” which commands attention with its sultry, slow, and heavy metallic punches and a bluesy groove. The massive title track, “The Sinner Rides Again,” balances balladic passages with sinister, head-bobbing choruses. “Keeper Of The Graves” follows with ominous bells and roaring cascades, showcasing an exceptional performance by Tim “Ripper” Owens. The album charges forward with “Pledge Your Souls” and concludes with the epic “Wash Away Your Sins,” leaving an indelible mark as a must-listen metal album of the year.
The striking and intricate album art for “The Sinner Rides Again” was masterfully crafted by talented artist Andy Pilkington.
