Below, you can catch the official music video for KITTIE’s latest track, “Eyes Wide Open,” marking their return after a remarkable 13-year hiatus

Adding to the excitement, KITTIE proudly announces their collaboration with the esteemed independent label Sumerian Records.

With “Eyes Wide Open,” KITTIE delivers a resounding declaration, reflecting not only their enduring influence on heavy metal but also their ability to inspire generations of musicians to push boundaries and defy conventions. Helmed by acclaimed producer Nick Raskulinecz (known for his work with FOO FIGHTERS, RUSH, ALICE IN CHAINS, and KORN), this single showcases KITTIE‘s unwavering dedication and innovative spirit, offering fans a glimpse into their evolved sound while staying true to the raw energy that propelled them into the limelight a quarter-century ago.

Morgan Lander, KITTIE‘s co-founder and frontwoman, expressed her enthusiasm for the band’s return and new partnership: “Sometimes, incredible opportunities present themselves in surprising ways. Just a few years ago we could have never imagined we would be getting ready to release new music as KITTIE. We’ve been given what feels like a second life and are grateful to Ash and the Sumerian family for believing in us.”

Sumerian Records founder and CEO Ash Avildsen adds: “KITTIE are true female pioneers in heavy music that helped bring it into pop culture. They have been both influential in the studio and on the road, as I’ve had the privilege of working with them on touring years ago when they brought out BRING ME THE HORIZON, IN THIS MOMENT and many other present-day heavyweights as brand new opening acts. The ladies have now returned with what I believe is their greatest album since their debut that set the world ablaze. The attitude, grit and songwriting is all there and I am honored to once again be helping them unleash their talent to the masses.”

The accompanying music video for “Eyes Wide Open” is a breathtaking visual masterpiece that intricately weaves together themes of enlightenment and discovery. Through a mesmerizing interplay of light and shadow, it mirrors the band’s own resurgence in the metal scene, reclaiming their rightful place at the forefront.

Last November, news surfaced of KITTIE‘s collaboration with acclaimed producer Nick Raskulinecz at Nashville’s Sienna Studios, hinting at an upcoming studio LP. Raskulinecz, a seasoned figure in the industry with credits including RUSH, ALICE IN CHAINS, and KORN, brings his expertise to the table, further fueling anticipation for what lies ahead.

The band marked their return to the stage after a five-year hiatus with a concert in September 2022 at the Blue Ridge Rock Festival, held at the Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia.

The current lineup of KITTIE features Morgan and Mercedes alongside guitarist Tara McLeod and bassist Ivana “Ivy” Vujic.

Before the Blue Ridge performance, KITTIE‘s last live show was their reunion gig at London Music Hall in their hometown of London, Ontario, back in 2017. This event celebrated the release of their documentary “Kittie: Origins/Evolutions.”

In January 2022, the original lineup of the band—Morgan, Mercedes, Fallon Bowman (guitar), and Tanya Candler (bass)—reunited for an online chat commemorating the 22nd anniversary of their gold-certified debut album, “Spit.”

Candler departed from the group following the release of “Spit” to complete her high school education, and she was succeeded by Talena Atfield.

Bowman left KITTIE in 2001 to pursue her own industrial/electronic project, AMPHIBIOUS ASSAULT.

After wrapping up the touring cycle for their 2011 album “I’ve Failed You,” KITTIE entered a prolonged period of inactivity. During this time, Morgan delved into a marketing role with a chain of fitness clubs, while Mercedes ventured into real estate and later joined a software company. The band also embarked on creating a comprehensive documentary about their journey, titled “Origins/Evolutions,” which finally premiered in 2018 via Lightyear Entertainment in North America.

I’ve Failed You” made its mark by selling 3,000 copies in the United States during its debut week, earning it the No. 178 spot on The Billboard 200 chart.
