EYE AM is set to drop their second single at the end of November

EYE AM, the fresh musical endeavor composed of former TYPE O NEGATIVE members Kenny Hickey (guitar/vocals) and Johnny Kelly (drums), alongside Kirk Windstein (guitar, vocals; recognized from CROWBAR, DOWN, KINGDOM OF SORROW), and Todd Strange (also from CROWBAR and DOWN), is all set to launch its second single, “Cryptomnesia.” This anticipated track is scheduled to drop on November 24 through Corpse Paint Records.

Kenny Hickey comments: “As a musician, it’s often difficult to listen to a song just for the enjoyment of it once it’s been completed primarily because of the many hours of work and concentration that go into it and the repetitive nature of the recording process in general. But, when I sit back and listen to ‘Cryptomnesia‘, all that seems to melt away and I fall in love with it again. The song is more of an experience rather than just another tune to fill in some time while you’re on your way here or there.”

Andrew Spaulding of Corpse Paint Records adds: “I’m really excited for the fans to get a chance to hear a more developed version of EYE AM. This song Kenny had the true universal connection to creativity. I picked him up from the airport before the recording session started. We got back to where we were staying, and within 30 minutes he wrote the opening riff and melody to the song; it just poured out of him.

“I think it’s some of the best stuff he’s ever done in his whole entire career. Once Kenny took his new creation to the studio, he sat down with Kirk and the magic happened again. After the two developed the song, Todd and Johnny joined in and collectively as a band, arranged it. You could tell the guys are creating a sound, not just playing notes.”

In an extraordinary move, EYE AM has joined forces with Corpse Paint Records to offer fans a chance of a lifetime – a unique contest that awards a New Orleans trip and a personal meeting with the band. Simultaneously, pre-orders for their latest single have commenced, boasting a selection of rare and exclusive variants. Moreover, an exclusive opportunity awaits fans to have their names etched into the EYE AM album credits for the upcoming 2024 release.

EYE AM marked their debut with the single “Dreams Always Die With The Sun,” unveiled in June under the aegis of Corpse Paint Records. A captivating music video, filmed by Mike Holderbeast at Joy Theater in New Orleans, Louisiana, accompanies the track, inviting viewers to delve into its artistry.

Penned by Hickey and Windstein, “Dreams Always Die With The Sun” materialized during recording sessions in February. Bassist Roger Lima of LESS THAN JAKE facilitated the recording at his studio, The Moathouse, located in Gainesville, Florida. To ensure sonic excellence, the track underwent meticulous mixing and mastering by the skilled hands of Jay Ruston.

Beyond their involvement with TYPE O NEGATIVE, Hickey and Kelly previously teamed up in the band SEVENTH VOID, delivering the 2009 full-length “Heaven Is Gone.” Furthermore, their musical journey extended to SILVERTOMB, which presented “Edge Of Existence” in 2019, showcasing their versatility.

Revisiting his roots, the original CROWBAR bassist, Strange, rejoined the fold in 2016, notably participating in the tour circuit supporting the band’s “The Serpent Only Lies” album. Strange‘s history with CROWBAR dates back to its early days; he initially departed in 1999 but then reunited for a two-year period, before ultimately stepping away once more to prioritize his family life.

Fronting CROWBAR, Windstein, who also contributes to the New Orleans supergroup DOWN, made an impact in the metal world. Collaborating with HATEBREED‘s Jamey Jasta, the duo released two albums under the KINGDOM OF SORROW banner. Continuing his musical exploration, Kirk unveiled his debut solo endeavor, “Dream In Motion,” in 2020, further expanding his creative horizons.
