Founding BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward says that he has been in the studio “making records”

Yesterday (Monday, January 1), the 75-year-old drummer posted a video message to social media, in which he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Happy New Year, everybody. We’re in the studio, and, these people behind me actually work with me in the studio and I work with them. We’ve got Bill and we’ve got Mikey and TJTJ is right there. This is my crew that I work with throughout the year and some other guys that won’t… They’re not in the picture; they don’t even wanna be in the picture. But we’re making records still, so we’ll see how all that works out.

“Hey, I hope it’s a safe ’24 for everybody. I know we’re in turbulent times and unsafe things are going on. But take care of the kids, take care of yourselves, and hopefully we can have some peace in ’24. Lots of love to all of you. Bye.”

In recent years, Bill Ward has shared a collection of poems, drawing inspiration from various sources such as the coronavirus pandemic and festive occasions like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

While initially on board for the BLACK SABBATH reunion over 11 years ago, Bill Ward withdrew shortly after the announcement. The drummer later asserted that he refrained from participating in the recording and touring sessions due to what he perceived as unfair contractual terms. On the other hand, BLACK SABBATH members hinted in subsequent interviews that Ward might not have been physically prepared for the demands of the reunion.

The band’s original lineup, including all four members, disclosed their reunion in late 2011. However, by 2012, Ward parted ways with the group, pointing to an “unsignable” contract as the reason. Despite his departure, singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, and bassist Geezer Butler proceeded with the Rick Rubin–produced “13” LP and embarked on extensive international touring without Ward.

Eighteen years after his previous solo release, Bill Ward introduced his first solo album in 2015, titled “Accountable Beasts,” available for purchase on iTunes.

During November 2017, Ward‘s band DAY OF ERRORS unveiled their inaugural pair of songs, “Day Of Errors” and “Blaspheming At Creation,” accessible on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon MP3, and Google Play. The following year, in 2019, two additional tracks, “Dark” and “Ghost Train,” were added to their repertoire.

As of March 2021, Bill Ward made public his ongoing project—an autobiography in the works.
