Jerry Cantrell, the guitarist of ALICE IN CHAINS, delivered a rendition of the U.S. national anthem during the Seattle Seahawks’ game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, October 29, at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington

On Monday (October 30), Jerry Cantrell shared some photos from the event and included the caption: “What a great weekend, got to play the national anthem before the Seahawks game . Hawks brought home the W at the end of a slugfest with the Browns. Very proud to have been a part of the festivities. Thank you Seattle !”

Jerry Cantrell‘s most recent solo album, “Brighten,” was released in October 2021. The album garnered critical acclaim, with Kerrang! describing it as a “vivid, contemporary self-portrait of one of the most distinctive voices in hard rock. A long-overdue show of individual brilliance.” Classic Rock hailed it as “his best yet, the work of a songwriter content in his life, spanning a wide range of styles.” The Sun praised it as a “rich, organic album,” deeming “Brighten” brilliant.

Brighten” marked Jerry’s first solo project without ALICE IN CHAINS in 19 years. Co-produced alongside film composer Tyler Bates and Paul Fig, the album took shape just before the onset of the pandemic. It featured a diverse lineup of supporting musicians, including Duff McKagan (GUNS N’ ROSES) on selected bass tracks, Greg Puciato lending his backing vocals, and drummers Gil Sharone and Abe Laboriel, Jr. (Paul McCartney). Joe Barresi (known for his work with TOOL and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) handled the mixing of “Brighten.”

Jerry‘s latest solo release represented his first full-length album since “Degradation Trip,” a monumental solo project he collaborated on in 2002 with future METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo and FAITH NO MORE drummer Mike Bordin.

In addition to his solo work, Jerry Cantrell has contributed to various major film soundtracks. His solo artist career began with “Boggy Depot” in 1998, followed by “Degradation Trip.” Furthermore, he has lent his musical talents to soundtracks for notable films like “Spider-Man,” “The Cable Guy,” “John Wick 2,” “Last Action Hero,” and “The Punisher.
