CANNIBAL CORPSE, the legendary death metal pioneers, have taken an unexpected creative leap by announcing the release of their officially licensed coloring book
The “Official Cannibal Corpse Colouring Book” is set to hit the shelves on December 1, just in time for the holiday season. This unique offering comes courtesy of Rock ‘N’ Roll Colouring, the same company responsible for licensed coloring books featuring iconic rock and metal bands like IRON MAIDEN, ALICE COOPER, THIN LIZZY, JUDAS PRIEST and MEGADETH.
With a collection of the band’s most infamous and gruesome artwork, originally designed by artist Vince Lock, fans will have the opportunity to faithfully recreate or put their own twist on iconic album covers. These covers include their 1990 debut “Eaten Back To Life,” 1991’s “Butchered At Birth,” 1992’s “Tomb Of The Mutilated,” and their latest release, this year’s “Chaos Horrific.”
Notably, this coloring book is the first ever to bear a Parental Advisory Warning, a testament to its edgy content. Reportedly, it has already faced a ban on sale in Germany, echoing the historical bans of CANNIBAL CORPSE‘s early albums and live performances of songs from those records in the country.
Celebrating the release of his first coloring book, Vince enthuses: “Going over art for the book, it was surprising to see just how much 30 years of collaboration yielded. It’s rare that I see it all compiled together. There are a few pieces that had to be included, some that were favorites of myself or the band, and some that just lent themselves well to coloring. I’m always playing, trying different materials and techniques. Hope you do the same with these coloring pages. Try watercolor markers, crayons, and colored pencils, adding your own details. You’ll probably go through a lot of red, but be creative, have fun, make it your own.”
Reflecting on his band’s unlikely entry into the world of coloring books, CANNIBAL CORPSE bassist Alex Webster says; “This book is a great new way for CANNIBAL CORPSE fans to enjoy the incredible artwork of Vincent Locke.”
