ALICE IN CHAINS are a legendary rock band that originated in Seattle, Washington. While their history dates back to the late 1980s, the addition of current frontman William Duvall marked a significant chapter in their story. Duvall joined ALICE IN CHAINS in 2006, bringing a fresh energy and dynamic to the group.

Prior to Duvall‘s arrival, ALICE INCHAINS had already made a name for themselves with their unique blend of heavy metal, alternative rock, and haunting harmonies. The band, formed in 1987, consisted of guitarist Jerry Cantrell, vocalist Layne Staley, bassist Mike Starr, and drummer Sean Kinney. Together, they crafted a sound that would become synonymous with the grunge movement of the early ’90s.

Unfortunately, as the ’90s progressed, ALICE IN CHAINS faced numerous challenges, including substance abuse issues and the tragic death of Layne Staley in 2002. The band went on hiatus, uncertain of their future.

However, in 2006, the remaining members decided to regroup and continue making music. They found a kindred spirit in William Duvall, a skilled vocalist and guitarist who had previously worked with Cantrell on his solo projects. Duvall‘s addition brought a renewed sense of purpose and rejuvenation to the band.

With Duvall on board, ALICE IN CHAINS released their comeback album, “Black Gives Way to Blue,” in 2009. The album received critical acclaim and marked a triumphant return for the band. Duvall‘s powerful vocals and harmonies blended seamlessly with Cantrell‘s signature guitar work, capturing the essence of ALICE IN CHAINS‘ sound while forging a new path forward.

Subsequent albums like “The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here” (2013) and “Rainier Fog” (2018) further solidified the band’s legacy and showcased their ability to evolve while staying true to their roots. Their music continued to resonate with fans old and new, and they maintained a strong presence in the rock scene.

Through the years, William Duvall has become an integral part of ALICE IN CHAINS, contributing to their songwriting process and live performances. His talent and dedication have allowed the band to continue their musical journey, honoring their past while embracing the future.
