While a full-fledged STONE SOUR reunion remains on hold for the foreseeable future, fans got a small taste of it recently

STONE SOUR‘s drummer, Roy Mayorga, made a near reunion as he joined Corey Taylor onstage at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA, on October 5th to perform “Absolute Zero” and “30/30-150.” You can watch their performance in the video clips provided below.

In a 2022 interview with Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, Taylor expressed his contentment with playing alongside his solo band and SLIPKNOT, emphasizing that there are still lingering unresolved matters within STONE SOUR. The band has been on hiatus since 2020, with Taylor saying the project has “kinda run its course for now.”

He said: “To me, I’ve done the time doing stuff in a — for lack of a better term — band situation. And the reason I stick with Slipknot is because that, to me, is the one that kind of started everything. But Stone Sour, there’s still so much drama and issues [between the members]. To me, it’s just not something I desire to do. And songs in Stone Sour that I want to play are the ones that I wrote in the first place.

“So to me, I would rather go out with a group of dudes who I’ve known forever and have a great time playing these songs and have the audience enjoy it because they see a bunch of dudes up there enjoying it than try to force issues on an audience that nobody really wants to be a part of, let’s put it that way.”

STONE SOUR formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1992. Originally founded by Corey Taylor, drummer Joel Ekman, and guitarist Josh Rand, the band went through several lineup changes in its early years. It wasn’t until 2002 that STONE SOUR gained widespread recognition with their self-titled debut album, featuring hits like “Bother” and “Get Inside.”

Over the years, they’ve released several successful albums, including “Come What(ever) May” (2006), “Audio Secrecy” (2010), and “Hydrograd” (2017). The band is known for its dynamic blend of hard rock and alternative metal and was often associated with Taylor, due to his also fronting SLIPKNOT.
