The Power Trip festival set times for AC/DC, METALLICA, IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST, GUNS N’ ROSES and TOOL have been announced
Goldenvoice, the festival producer, has unveiled the schedule for its inaugural three-day metal music event, Power Trip, set to unfold from October 6th to 8th at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
On Friday, October 6th, GUNS N’ ROSES is scheduled to rock the stage at 9:25 p.m., while IRON MAIDEN will kick off at 6:45 p.m. On Saturday, October 7th, AC/DC is slated to electrify the crowd at 9:25 p.m., with JUDAS PRIEST commencing at 6:45 p.m. And on the closing day, Sunday, October 8th, METALLICA will bring the house down at 9:35 p.m., and TOOL will launch the festivities at 6:55 p.m.
The event promises to be more than just your typical festival; it aims to provide an enhanced experience in a nighttime desert setting with top-notch concert production, departing from the usual stadium or parking lot concert setting. Power Trip features three double-billed headlining performances, making it an exceptional weekend escape for heavy music enthusiasts.
Despite its unique appeal, ticket sales for Power Trip initially faced challenges. Some prospective attendees considered it costly, and the proximity of METALLICA and GUNS N’ ROSES concerts, as well as the concurrent Aftershock festival in Sacramento, may have impacted demand. Additionally, JUDAS PRIEST stepped in to replace Ozzy Osbourne, who had to cancel due to health issues.
The teaser video for Power Trip, released in March, featured iconic metal imagery and logos of the six participating bands, creating excitement among fans.
For AC/DC, Power Trip marks their first concert since September 2016, with Axl Rose filling in for Brian Johnson during his hearing loss recovery.
METALLICA previously rocked the Empire Polo Grounds in 2011 as part of the “Big Four” event, a historic gathering featuring ANTHRAX, MEGADETH, and SLAYER.
