NIGHTWISH vocalist Floor Jansen has given birth to her second child with husband Hannes Van Dahl, who they have named Lucy
Jansen posted a black and white picture of her, Van Dahl and newborn baby girl Lucy‘s hands touching each other to her social media earlier today (Friday, October 20, 2023). She included the caption:
“There she is! 🩷 With great happiness we can announce the birth of our second daughter Lucy! Big sister Freja is delighted with our dark haired little girl too! 👶🏻
“Health is not a given fact, and so it’s humbling to report that both our baby girl as mom are in a great one! We are enjoying these special moments to the fullest and ask for understanding of our privacy in this intimate time! Big thanks for all the love and support we received during the pregnancy! We have now welcomed our dear Lucy into this beautiful world 🙏🏻”
In November 2022, Floor shared the uplifting news that she had triumphed over cancer. She had recently undergone surgery to remove a tumor after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
Back in March, Floor and Van Dahl, the drummer of SABATON, joyfully revealed that they were expecting their second child. The couple already care for their six-year-old daughter, Freja, born on March 15, 2017.
This past April an unexpected announcement came from NIGHTWISH. The band surprised their fans by declaring that they wouldn’t be performing any live shows in the foreseeable future. Additionally, they stated that there would be no touring in support of their forthcoming studio album, tentatively scheduled for release in 2024.
NIGHTWISH‘s statement at the time reads as follows: “As the ‘Human :ll: Nature – World Tour’ is drawing to a close, we feel now is the time to tell you of our plans for the next phase in our journey.
“After the planned shows for June 2023 we will be ‘hanging up our spurs’ for an indeterminate time, as far as live concert performances go, and won’t be touring the next album.
“The reasons for this decision are personal, but, we all agree, vital to the wellbeing and future of the band. Be assured that we still love working together, and this decision has nothing to do with Floor‘s pregnancy or our other individual projects.
“However, an album of 12 new songs will see bright daylight in 2024, as will 3 music videos! The band is positively hyped beyond words over this new upcoming musical adventure.
“Stay tuned for updates from our legendary NIGHTWISH band camp & studio this summer!”
