Last month, in Sydney, Australia, Mike Shinoda of LINKIN PARK orchestrated an unexpected musical gathering, bringing together a group of talented musicians to deliver a spontaneous performance of his recent solo track, “Already Over”
Joining in on this impromptu jam were members from POLARIS, STAND ATLANTIC and other artists. The session also featured an in-studio rendition of LINKIN PARK‘s classic hit, “Bleed It Out.”
Mike Shinoda commented: “In making ‘Already Over‘, I wrote and played all the instruments myself. But to play it live, I loved the idea of playing with a range of talented musicians who were all “locals.” While I was in Sydney, I managed to put together a session with a group of talented Aussies.
This is the first and only time we all played together.”
Those musicians involved in the session:
Vocals/rhythm guitar: Bonnie Fraser (STAND ATLANTIC)
Rhythm guitar: Tash Wolf
Lead guitar: Mitchell Black
Bass: James Karagiozis (BETWEEN YOU AND ME)
Drums: Daniel Furnari (POLARIS)
In other updates, Shinoda has curated a second music pack for the popular VR game ‘Beat Saber.‘ This pack includes songs not only from LINKIN PARK but also from Shinoda‘s solo endeavors and his FORT MINOR project.
LINKIN PARK has been on hiatus since the death of Bennington in 2017.
Last April, Shinoda confirmed that there are no plans for new music, albums or live shows from the group.
Shinoda, who was appointed Community Innovation Advisor of Warner Recorded Music (WRM), addressed the band‘s future during a Twitch livestream, saying: “The only news I have for you is that… Yeah, we talk every few weeks — I talk to the guys, or some of the guys,” he said. “And there’s no tours, there’s no music, there’s no albums in the pipeline. Okay, so let me just tell you that. So just keep in your minds that that is not happening.
“I’m just gonna say that much for now,” he continued. “I say that because anytime the band says anything or does anything, everyone tries to start up the hype train, and we’re, like, ‘No, no, no, no. Don’t start up the hype train.’ You’re gonna disappoint yourself. Don’t do that.”
Mike Shinoda is an American musician, songwriter, rapper, and producer. He was born on February 11, 1977, in Agoura Hills, California, USA.
Shinoda‘s passion for music began at an early age, and he learned to play the piano, guitar, and drums. He attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, where he met future bandmate Brad Delson. Together, they formed the band XERO, which later evolved into LINKIN PARK.
