Josh Freese has revealed his return to the drummer position in A PERFECT CIRCLE for a number of live performances

During A PERFECT CIRCLE‘s upcoming “Sessanta” tour, FOO FIGHTERS drummer Josh Freese will be taking his place behind the drum kit for select dates, marking his return to the Maynard James Keenan-fronted band after a remarkable 13-year hiatus.

The “Sessanta” tour, commemorating Keenan‘s 60th birthday, promises an electrifying lineup that includes not only A PERFECT CIRCLE but also PUSCIFER and PRIMUS.

Freese’s appearances with A PERFECT CIRCLE will cover the initial 13 shows of the tour, commencing from the inaugural performance on April 2 in Boston and concluding with the April 20 concert in Los Angeles. Following this, Gunnar Olsen of PUSCIFER will take over the drumming duties from the April 21 show in Berkeley, California, through to the May 4 concert in Forest Hills, New York.

In a statement posted to his social media, Freese wrote: “Happy to report that for the first time in 13 years I’ll be going out with A PERFECT CIRCLE on the upcoming ‘Sessanta’ tour. Due to my schedule with the FOO FIGHTERS I’ll be having to jump off after the Hollywood Bowl on April 20. Gunnar from PUSCIFER will be filling in on the remaining dates (maybe a little Tim Alexander too?) There’s a chance I’ll be able to show up to another gig or two after that if time allows but for now that’s the plan.

A PERFECT CIRCLE has always been a very special band for me and I’m really looking forward to getting out and playing these songs again.”

Earlier this week, Freese uploaded a photo of his A PERFECT CIRCLE DW Collectors drum kit, along with the caption “13 years later…like riding a bike.”

Notably, Freese‘s association with A PERFECT CIRCLE dates back to their inception, as he contributed his drumming talents to the band’s first three albums before their initial hiatus in 2005. Although he briefly rejoined the lineup when A PERFECT CIRCLE regrouped in 2010, Freese was not involved in their 2018 release, “Eat The Elephant.”
