This week’s Heavy Metal News Video Recap looks at: Several of Jay Weinberg‘s drumming peers have expressed their support for the musician following his unexpected dismissal from SLIPKNOT last weekend.
On November 5, SLIPKNOT made a public statement through social media, revealing that they had “decided to make a creative decision and to part ways with Jay.”
After Jay addressed his departure from SLIPKNOT, many of his colleagues took to the Instagram comments section to offer words of encouragement as he embarks on the next phase of his career.
In other music news, the heavy metal legends PANTERA are set to return to the stage in February 2024 for the second leg of their North American headlining tour. This follows their highly successful 20-city run this past summer, which was one of the most anticipated events of 2023, along with PANTERA‘s dates supporting METALLICA. The lineup, featuring classic members vocalist Philip H. Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown, alongside guitarist Zakk Wylde (OZZY OSBOURNE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY) and drummer Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX), continues to celebrate the lives of late founding members, drummer Vincent “Vinnie Paul” Abbott and guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott.
The tour, starting on February 3 in Sunrise, Florida, spans fourteen cities, concluding on February 27 in Quebec City, Quebec. Special guests for the tour include acclaimed metal powerhouse LAMB OF GOD, with additional support acts to be announced.
JUDAS PRIEST has also unveiled the “Invincible Shield” spring 2024 North American tour with special guest SABATON. The iconic band will dominate the U.S.A. with 14 shows, kicking off on April 18 at Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Connecticut, and concluding on May 22 in Syracuse, New York at Empower Federal Credit Union Amphitheater at Lakeview.
Lastly, Sammy Hagar is embarking on the long-awaited “The Best Of All Worlds” 2024 tour. Hagar, joined by rock heavyweights and longtime bandmates Michael Anthony (bass, backing vocals) and Jason Bonham (drums), announced on November 14 on SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show” that Joe Satriani, one of the world’s best guitar players, will complete the band. Produced by Live Nation and featuring special guests LOVERBOY, the 28-date tour kicks off on July 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida, and concludes on August 31 in St. Louis, Missouri.
