IRON MAIDEN’s First 2 Albums: The Rise Of Eddie
IRON MAIDEN are one of the most successful heavy metal bands of all time and are often credited with helping to create the "New Wave Of British Heavy Metal" movement along with fellow acts JUDAS PRIEST, BLACK SABBATH and MOTÖRHEAD. And a great deal of this recognition stems from the band's eponymous debut album and it's follow-up, "Killers".
RONNIE JAMES DIO: Everything You Need To Know About A Heavy Metal Legend
The name Ronnie James Dio is synonymous with hard rock and metal. As the singer for RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH and DIO, as well as HEAVEN AND HELL, Dio helped define the genre with his powerful voice and unique style.
Exclusive Feature: BLOTHAR THE BERSERKER From GWAR Discusses The Late ODERUS URUNGUS
We recently asked current GWAR frontman (front-something...) Blöthar The Berserker whether the band's late vocalist, Odurus Urungus, (real name Dave Brockie) is still a felt presence within the group both in the studio or when they perform live.
BLACK SABBATH’s ‘Heaven And Hell’ Album: A Splintered Heavy Metal Band Rises From The Ashes
Singer Ronnie James Dio was introduced to Tony Iommi in 1979 by Sharon Arden, who would later go on to marry and manage Ozzy as well as reach reality show stardom. At first, Dio and Iommi discussed forming a new project, rather than a continuation of BLACK SABBATH. The two would meet again, by chance, at The Rainbow on Sunset in Los Angeles later that year. Both men were in similar situations with Dio seeking a new project and Iommi needing a singer. "It must have been fate," Dio recalled, "because we connected so instantly."
RANDY RHOADS: Unraveling the Legacy and Tragically Short Journey of a Heavy Metal Guitar Icon
It's been 40 years since world-renowned guitarist Randy Rhoads died tragically in a plane crash. He was only 25 years old at the time of his passing, but he had already accomplished more than most musicians could hope to achieve in a lifetime.
IRON MAIDEN Drummer NICKO MCBRAIN: Everything You Need To Know
Nicko McBrain has become a name synonymous with supplying the earth shattering drum beats and furious fills for British heavy metal titans IRON MAIDEN. Joining the band after they had already become significantly established as the forerunners of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal in the late seventies and early eighties, McBrain took over the drum kit from vacated stickman Clive Burr with a ferocity that needs to be addressed and quite frankly revered. For 40 years now, IRON MAIDEN's hurricane of a backbone, Nicko McBrain, has still remained somewhat of an "unsung hero" in heavy metal. Even if he is IRON MAIDEN's drummer.
CLIFF BURTON: Did METALLICA Stop Being A Thrash Metal Band After His Death?
There has been a common argument among METALLICA fans that has raged on for decades as to whether the band stopped being "thrash metal" following the death of bassist Cliff Burton in 1986.
