Anders Colsefni, the original vocalist of SLIPKNOT, has embarked on his Australian tour, commencing with a performance of the band’s 1996 demo album, “Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.”

The tour kicked off at the Crowbar in Sydney, Australia, on the evening of October 11th. Colsefni‘s dedication to performing this album serves as a heartfelt tribute to his late bandmates, Paul Gray and Joey Jordison. It’s worth noting that Corey Taylor, Colsefni‘s eventual replacement in SLIPKNOT, has given his blessing for these tribute shows.

While the significance of “Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.” has often been overshadowed by the later multi-platinum success of SLIPKNOT, the album offers a unique glimpse into the band’s roots. Several tracks from this album were later reworked and included on SLIPKNOT‘s iconic 2x multi-platinum self-titled debut album.

Before the world came to know the masked and enigmatic figures of SLIPKNOT, there was a pivotal figure in the band’s history – vocalist Anders Colsefni. Often overshadowed by the later fame of the group, Colsefni played an essential role in the band’s early days.

He was not only the voice of the band but also one of its founding members. Colsefni‘s powerful and distinctive vocals were a defining characteristic of SLIPKNOT‘s early sound.

While the band’s demo album, “Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat,” may not have achieved the massive recognition that their later works did, it laid the foundation for their unique blend of aggressive, chaotic, and industrial-tinged metal.

Colsefni‘s contributions and his dedication to the band’s early years remain a significant part of the band’s history. His legacy lives on in the hearts of fans and as a testament to the band’s enduring impact on the world of heavy music. While he eventually parted ways with the band, his role in the formation and early evolution of SLIPKNOT is a chapter in their storied history that should not be forgotten.
