VIXEN has just unveiled their latest single, titled “Red”

The accompanying official music video for this track, directed by Drew Johnston and Vicente Cordero and edited by Ryan Conion, is available for viewing below.

During a recent conversation with Robert Miguel of Uvalde Radio Rocks, VIXEN drummer Roxy Petrucci shared some insights about the song “Red“:  “It’s pretty energetic. I think it’s a good mix of the old ’80s mixing with fresh, new 2023 VIXEN.”

In January 2019, VIXEN underwent a significant change when they welcomed their new lead singer, Lorraine Lewis, into the fold, marking a transition from the band’s classic lineup. This change came in the wake of Janet Gardner‘s departure from the group.

Interestingly, Lewis had previously stepped in to assist VIXEN in March 2018 when Janet Gardner was recovering from surgery. This collaboration served as a precursor to her official joining of the band as the lead vocalist.

Before Lorraine Lewis joined the band, founding members Roxy Petrucci, Share Ross, and Britt Lightning Denaro made a commitment to both honor the band’s rich musical heritage and push its boundaries to new horizons. Their aim was to carry forward the VIXEN legacy while staying true to the band’s original musical roots.

It’s worth noting that the classic lineup of the group, which includes Janet Gardner, Roxy Petrucci, and Share Ross, is often celebrated for its contributions to the band’s legacy. This trio, along with the founding guitarist Jan Kuehnemund, formed the core of VIXEN. Tragically, Jan Kuehnemund passed away from cancer in October 2013, marking a significant loss for the band and its devoted fan base.

Janet Gardner’s distinctive lead vocals graced some of the band’s most commercially successful studio albums, including “Vixen” (1988), “Rev It Up” (1990), and “Tangerine” (1998). Her vocal talent was also featured on the band’s latest full-length release at the time, the dynamic live album “Live Fire,” which was released in 2018.
