Canadian metalcore outfit SPIRITBOX are still soaking up the breakout success from their debut studio album “Eternal Blue”, yet have already begun working on new music.

SPIRITBOX’s spousal duo of singer Courtney LaPlante and guitarist Mike Stringer recently confirmed to Kerrang! that they already have about eight new songs in the works.

LaPlante said: “They’re really different to the songs on ‘Eternal Blue‘. I think some people might even hate them. But that makes me excited. I thrive on negativity!”

Stringer also commented: “‘Eternal Blue‘ spanned over two years. And so much happened over those years. Now we’re different people with different tastes and it’s nice to be able to sit down and be like, ‘What do I want to hear? What do I enjoy?’”

LaPlante added: “We feel really energized playing and recording the new songs. I hope that will translate to those listening. It makes me want to drive around really fast in a car – I don’t even have a license, but I’ll do it!”

LaPlante and Stringer made their debut with an independently released EP in October 2017, which quickly gained a cult following. In 2018, they found their musical counterpart in bass player Bill Crook and partnered with Pale Chord Music to continue to create and release music in single and EP formats, and in fall of 2020, signed with globally renowned label Rise Records.
