Canadian metalcore band SPIRITBOX is currently in the studio, collaborating with former BRING ME THE HORIZON keyboardist Jordan Fish

A video from the studio, shared by SPIRITBOX guitarist Mike Stringer on his Instagram story, showed the band during the recording sessions. Both Fish and vocalist Courtney LaPlante were tagged in the post. It is speculated that these sessions are for SPIRITBOX‘s upcoming second album, following their critically acclaimed 2021 release, “Eternal Blue.”

Courtney LaPlante has hinted at the possibility of a new SPIRITBOX album in 2024. When asked by Revolver what SPIRITBOX fans can expect in 2024, the singer said: “I’m looking forward to making new music. That’s the thing that has been missing for most of this year. ’Cause we have our new EP [2023’s The Fear Of Fear], but we made it at the beginning of the year. So it feels [like it’s] time to incubate something new.”

When asked how the forthcoming album will sound, Courtney replied: “I definitely don’t really know. But I do think that whatever it is will feel very flexible. We wanted to prove that we could edit our songs down to letting the songs speak for themselves, and not have the band overplaying and stumbling all over the songs.

“It’s just hard for a bunch of really good, talented musicians to show restraint sometimes. But I like a little bit of restraint so the whole song feels like a full song, not just listening to someone showing off for five minutes.

In December, Jordan Fish ended his 11-year tenure with UK pop-metal heavyweights BRING ME THE HORIZON. He played a significant role as a keyboardist, backing vocalist, and producer on three of the band’s albums: “Sempiternal” (2013), “That’s The Spirit” (2015), and “Amo” (2019).

Additionally, Fish contributed to the studio projects “Music To Listen To…” (2019) and “Post-Human: Survival Horror” (2020).

BRING ME THE HORIZON announced the split on December 22 via social media.

Bring Me The Horizon has decided to part ways with Jordan Fish,” they said in a statement.

“We want to thank him for the musical journey he took with us and wish him luck with everything in the future. Meanwhile we continue to work on “Nex Gen“, with brand new music coming very soon.

“See you on our UK tour in January.”

Fish commented on the split as well, saying: “I’m really grateful for my 11 years with the band, and extremely proud of all that we have achieved together.

“I look forward to hearing what they do next, and wish them every success in the future. I’m excited to start this next period of my career, focusing for the meantime on songwriting and production.”

BRING ME THE HORIZON is currently touring the UK, and their next studio project, “Post-Human: Nex Gen,” is expected to be released later this year. It remains uncertain if Fish‘s contributions will be featured on the new recording.
