QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE is set to conclude their extensive global tour, “The End Is Nero,” with a series of West Coast dates
After a successful string of sold-out shows across Europe, the band will resume their North American leg in Phoenix, sweeping through the Southwestern region before concluding 2023 with a grand performance on Saturday, December 16th at the Kia Forum in their hometown of Los Angeles.
Excitingly, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE has announced that SPIRITUALIZED, led by J Spaceman, will be the opening act for these December North American dates. SPIRITUALIZED is currently promoting their ninth album, “Everything Was Beautiful.” Tickets for these newly revealed dates will go on sale Friday, September 22 at 10 a.m. local time.
“The End Is Nero” tour is in support of the eighth QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE studio album, “In Times New Roman…”, recently hailed by Variety as “self-produced by band founder [Josh] Homme and one of his strongest QOTSA lineups ever, is one of the rawest and heaviest albums the band has delivered, and during Queens, New York stop of their ‘The End Is Nero’ tour, they proved that sometimes the new material can be a live standout…”
Notably, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE made their triumphant return to the stage on May 26th at the Sonic Temple festival in Columbus, Ohio, marking their first live performance in over three years. Prior to the Columbus show, Josh Homme and the band played a single gig in early 2020, their first since 2018.
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE‘s latest album, “In Times New Roman…,” was released digitally and physically on June 16 through Matador Records.
This album was recorded and mixed at Homme‘s own Pink Duck studio (RIP), with additional recording at Shangri-La. The production was handled by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, with mixing by Mark Rankin. The album’s artwork and double LP gatefold packaging were designed by their longtime collaborator, Boneface. The LP vinyl edition is available globally in black, green, red, silver, and blue variants.
In their album announcement, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE expressed that “In Times New Roman…” reflects the heartache and experiences their members have endured over the past few years.
It’s worth noting that QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE‘s previous album, “Villains,” released in 2017, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart.
