The announcement of “Adverse Yaw” coincides with the launch of LES CLAYPOOL’S FEARLESS FLYING FROG BRIGADE‘s “The Hunt For Green October” tour. Commencing in Oakland, California on Wednesday, October 11, this tour marks their final Bay Area performance of the year. The fall tour itinerary encompasses a range of East Coast shows, including notable stops at The Palace Theatre in Albany, New York (Friday, October 20), Brooklyn Steel in Brooklyn, New York (Sunday, October 22), and the Fillmore in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Wednesday, October 25).
As the FROG BRIGADE returns to the stage this week, they are poised to delight fans with a fresh two-set performance, delving into their extensive catalog. Expectations run high for a range of FROG BRIGADE material not featured during the summer, as the band explores uncharted musical territory and delivers a two-set show teeming with surprises.
Notably, “The Hunt For Green October” tour marks the final opportunity for fans to experience the band’s rendition of PINK FLOYD‘s “Animals,” performed in its entirety each night. The media has heaped praise upon the band’s reunion, with Glide Magazine declaring, “Despite the 20-year gap in their touring history, LES CLAYPOOL’S FROG BRIGADE is hitting the ground running.” Buffalo.fm lauds the tour as “spectacular,” while Third Coast Review urges fans to heed the call when Les Claypool is in town.
“The Hunt For Green October” introduces an engaging fan-centric element: the “lilypad.” At all forthcoming general admission shows, a designated green area near the stage, dubbed the “lilypad,” welcomes attendees adorned in costume or sporting the FEARLESS FLYING BRIGADE frog hat.
Furthermore, all attendees, whether at seated or general admission shows, are encouraged to let their creative costumes shine, as each performance will feature a contest honoring one standout costume-clad fan with an autographed show poster.
Formed by Claypool during a brief hiatus from PRIMUS in the summer of 2000, the FEARLESS FLYING FROG BRIGADE made its inaugural appearance at the Mountain Aire festival, followed by several acclaimed U.S. tours. In 2001, the band released two live albums, along with the studio album “Purple Onion” in 2002.
The resurgence of the FEARLESS FLYING FROG BRIGADE follows a bustling year for Claypool, who not only performed with BASTARD JAZZ on New Year’s Eve and throughout winter 2022 but also traveled the nation with PRIMUS for their wildly popular “A Tribute To Kings” tour. Last year witnessed the release of PRIMUS‘s first new music in over five years, the sprawling three-song “Conspiranoid” EP, which featured the epic 11-minute opening track “Conspiranoia” and the second single, “Follow The Fool.“
Les Claypool‘s ascent to prominence in the entertainment world is a truly remarkable success story. His distinctive vocal style, pulsating basslines, and unique perspective have become the hallmarks of numerous highly successful and influential albums over the past two decades. Through his wide-ranging musical and creative projects, Claypool has garnered a devoted following, appealing to jam band enthusiasts, funk aficionados, and audiences spanning diverse musical tastes.
“Let’s put it this way … I think, with PRIMUS and without, I’ve played every music festival in the last ten years, except Lilith Fair,” he comments. “You could say I’m the guy who doesn’t fit in anywhere, but a little bit everywhere.”
