Ozzy Osbourne is to be honored with the Icon Award at the inaugural Rolling Stone UK Awards, scheduled to take place on November 23 at the Roundhouse in Camden Town, London
Despite his health challenges, including the impact of a 2019 fall that exacerbated a pre-existing spine injury and his 2020 diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, the 74-year-old rock legend is planning to attend the event.
Ozzy Osbourne will address the nominees, guests, and VIPs gathered at the venue, although he will not be performing on the night. The Rolling Stone UK Awards will be hosted by the comedian, satirist, and actor Munya Chawawa.
Ozzy said: “I don’t know what to say! I wish I felt like a fucking icon.
“I’ve had a long career and I’ve raised a few fucking eyebrows along the way, and I’ve met some amazing people too. I’ve done some good gigs and I’ve done some fucking bad gigs!
“Thanks very much for giving me this award, it really means a lot to me.”
Earlier this July, Ozzy had to cancel his appearance at the Power Trip festival due to his ongoing health issues. These physical setbacks, combined with contracting COVID-19 nearly two years ago, led to the cancellation of some of his previously announced tours.
Despite these challenges, Ozzy Osbourne has expressed a desire to return to the stage if his health improves. In the past year and a half, Ozzy has managed to perform on a couple of occasions, including appearances at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in August 2022 and the NFL halftime show at the season opener for the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills in September 2022.
