Lita Ford has announced a run of U.S. tour dates set to commence later this month

Back in January 2021, Lita told SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk” about her new album, saying it features “some of the best guitar playing” she has heard “in decades.” She said: “And I’m not blowing smoke up my own ass, but Gary and I just nailed it with the guitar playing on this record.
“I’m a huge fan of people like Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter from Alice Cooper‘s ‘Welcome To My Nightmare’. I mean, there’s some really great duo guitar players — [JUDAS PRIEST‘s] Glenn Tipton, K.K. Downing… Those guitar players don’t exist anymore — they just don’t exist. If you wanna hear them, you have to go back in time a little bit and dig them up into your favorite library, favorite music catalog. But I think Gary and I really nailed it on this next record. It’s, like, oh my God. I’m crying — I’m just, like, crying listening to this stuff. It’s so badass.”
Lita Ford, born on September 19, 1958, in London, England, and raised in the United States, emerged as a prominent figure in the heavy metal genre, making significant contributions to its evolution. Ford‘s journey into the world of music began at an early age, and by the time she was a teenager, she joined the pioneering all-female rock band, THE RUNAWAYS, in 1975. As the lead guitarist, Ford played a crucial role in shaping the band’s sound and image, contributing to their rebellious and edgy style that would later influence the trajectory of heavy metal.
After THE RUNAWAYS disbanded in 1979, Lita embarked on a solo career that would solidify her status as one of the leading women in heavy metal. Her debut solo album, “Out for Blood,” was released in 1983, showcasing Ford‘s guitar prowess and establishing her as a force to be reckoned with in the male-dominated genre. The subsequent release, “Dancin’ on the Edge” (1984), further solidified her place in the metal scene, featuring a mix of hard-hitting tracks and showcasing her versatility as a musician.
Lita Ford‘s most commercially successful album, “Lita” (1988), propelled her to mainstream success with hit singles like “Kiss Me Deadly” and the Ozzy Osbourne duet “Close My Eyes Forever.” Her impact extended beyond her musical achievements, as Ford challenged gender norms in heavy metal, breaking down barriers for female musicians in the genre. Lita Ford‘s career has left an indelible mark on heavy metal, and her enduring legacy continues to inspire new generations of musicians, demonstrating that women can thrive and excel in the world of hard rock and metal.
Lita Ford‘s last release was 2016’s “Time Capsule”, a collection of songs that were recorded by Lita in the past, but never before made available.
