On Friday, April 19th, at 9:00 p.m., the iconic Rainbow Bar & Grill on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California, will host a special event to honor the late Lemmy Kilmister, legendary frontman of MOTÖRHEAD

Fans are invited to witness the enshrinement of Lemmy‘s ashes at the Rainbow, accompanied by the unveiling of a new Motörhead Whiskey, as announced via the Rainbow’s social media channels.

The Rainbow Bar & Grill holds a special place in the hearts of MOTÖRHEAD fans, having dedicated its patio to Lemmy back in November 2016, aptly named “Lemmy’s Lounge.” This gesture pays tribute to Lemmy‘s frequent presence on the patio when he wasn’t on the road, a space adorned with a life-size bronze statue in his likeness that draws fans from around the world. Lemmy‘s Lounge provides an opportunity for both die-hard enthusiasts and casual patrons to immerse themselves in the atmosphere that Lemmy cherished.

To further celebrate Lemmy‘s legacy, a commemorative mural honoring his life and MOTÖRHEAD has been painted on the side wall of the Roxy, opposite Lemmy‘s Lounge and statue, with the gracious consent of Roxy owner Nic Adler and Goldenvoice’s Paul Tollett.

Known for his unwavering love for the Rainbow, Lemmy Kilmister relocated to West Hollywood to be closer to the iconic venue. In his final years, he was a regular fixture at the Rainbow, often found playing the bar’s video poker machine when the band was off tour.

Lemmy‘s passing in 2015, at the age of 70, left a void in the music world, with MOTÖRHEAD forced to cancel several shows due to his declining health. Nevertheless, the band managed to complete their European tour just weeks before his passing.

In June 2020, it was announced that Lemmy would be immortalized in a biopic titled “Lemmy,” directed by Greg Olliver, who previously directed the 2010 documentary of the same name.

While a custom-made urn containing Lemmy‘s ashes is on permanent display at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood, California, his legacy will also be honored at the Bloodstock Open Air festival in the United Kingdom. A portion of his ashes will be housed in a unique urn at Bloodstock, with a bust of Lemmy commissioned by the festival for fans to pay their respects. Following the festival, the bust will find its permanent home at Nottingham’s Rock City venue, ensuring that fans can continue to honor Lemmy‘s memory for years to come.
