LAMB OF GOD guitarist Mark Morton is celebrating five years of continuous sobriety
Earlier today (Wednesday, December 27), the LAMB OF GOD shredder posted a tweet on his X account (formerly known as Twitter) which read: “Today, after years of alcoholism & drug addiction, I celebrate 5 years clean & sober.
“If you’re reading this & struggling with addiction, please know that recovery IS possible for you. It’s so worth it… I promise. You’re worth it. Find someone in recovery & ask for help.”
Several of Mark Morton’s colleagues have promptly extended their congratulations, among them Nita Strauss, guitarist for Alice Cooper and a solo artist, and Phil Labonte, lead singer of ALL THAT REMAINS. Both Strauss and Labonte have confronted their own battles with substance abuse.
Strauss praised Morton‘s achievement, stating, “An incredible accomplishment, without a doubt!! Massive congratulations and gratitude for serving as a beacon for those facing their own struggles.” Strauss herself marked eight years of sobriety this past September. Labonte wrote, “Congrats!! Love you homie!!”
In 2018, Mark Morton released his solo album “Anesthetic,” featuring the standout track “Cross Off” with the late LINKIN PARK vocalist Chester Bennington. This hit soared to No. 7 on the Mainstream Rock Songs chart and secured the No. 11 spot on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales list.
Following this success, Morton unveiled “Ether,” an acoustic-flavored EP that showcased three original compositions and covers of iconic tracks like PEARL JAM‘s “Black” and THE BLACK CROWES‘ “She Talks To Angels.” Collaborating with talents like HALESTORM‘s Lzzy Hale, former KILLSWITCH ENGAGE frontman Howard Jones, SONS OF TEXAS‘s Mark Morales, and MOON TOOTH‘s John Carbone, “Ether” added a diverse and captivating dimension to Morton‘s musical repertoire.
