ANTHRAX continue to work on their next studio album with singer Joey Belladonna beginning vocals today

Joey Belladonna of ANTHRAX is on the verge of commencing the recording of his vocal contributions for the band’s highly anticipated follow-up to the 2016 album, “For All Kings.” It’s worth noting that ANTHRAX marked its momentous 40th anniversary in 2021, celebrated through an array of special events and activities.

Earlier today (Sunday, November 5), the 63-year-old Belladonna shared a video message in which he said: “What’s up? Today is the day. Getting ready to record a new record. Doing some vocals starting today. I’m excited. ANTHRAX.”

Earlier this year, ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante was asked by Metal Rules why it has taken so long for the band to complete the writing process for a new LP. Charlie said: “If we didn’t get hit with this whole global pandemic thing, it would have been out probably two years ago, three years ago. But we all know what happened. But now, being that some of the songs were [written] before the pandemic hit, they’re old to me. So now there’s a bunch of new songs that kind of came in the mix. So that’s a good thing. You can never have enough… We’re still working on the older ones because we really like a lot of those.”

Founded by guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker in Queens, New York on July 18, 1981, ANTHRAX holds a pivotal position in the history of thrash metal. As one of the earliest thrash metal bands to emerge from the East Coast, they swiftly established themselves as genre trailblazers alongside iconic acts such as METALLICA, SLAYER, and MEGADETH.

Across their illustrious career spanning five decades, the band has delivered an impressive catalog of 11 studio albums, garnered multiple gold and platinum certifications, earned six Grammy nominations, and graced stages around the world since 1984, boasting a multitude of live performances, including headlining iconic venues like Madison Square Garden and even making history by playing at Yankee Stadium as part of the “Big Four” lineup.

ANTHRAX‘s 2016 release, “For All Kings,” received high praise from critics, with some hailing it as the band’s most formidable album to date. This marked a renaissance for the group, following their participation in the legendary “Big Four” tour and the release of the comeback album “Worship Music” after a five-year hiatus.
