DEFTONES vocalist Chino Moreno and his wife have adopted a rescue dog that was set to be euthanized
Credit is due to Chino Moreno, the vocalist of DEFTONES, CROSSES and others, along with his wife Risa, and various other individuals. They recently welcomed a rescue dog into their family, despite the veterinarian’s prior recommendation for euthanasia due to a severe anal prolapse.
The dog, named Scarlett, was rescued and temporarily cared for by The Pug Queen Foundation based in Los Angeles, CA. Through their efforts, Scarlett received necessary surgery and temporary fostering before finding a permanent home with the Morenos. The Morenos already have two other dogs, Tito and Sasha, in their family.

She was just adopted by Chino Moreno @chinomoreno the lead singer of the DEFTONES @deftones & CROSSES @crossesmusic, and his fantastic wife Risa @risamoramoreno!
This little girl was dropped off at a shelter with a severe anal prolapse after a vet told her owners to euthanize her. We quickly scooped her up & rushed her to the ER where she had surgery & spent many days recovering. Mary @mary.dolan.92372 then fostered her as she healed. When Risa applied to adopt her I denied her initially because Scarlett was having complications. But as she grew, everything healed and I let Risa know Scarlett was now ready! They watched videos of her on Mary’s page & fell in love. Since Chino & his band Crosses are on tour here, they came to meet her & took her home – to the tour bus – today!
THANK YOU Risa for your patience & kindness, thank you & Chino for choosing to ADOPT yet another fur kid & not buy from a breeder! I hope Tito (Pug Mix brother) & Sasha accept her into the pack!

In related news, DEFTONES have been working on new material since February of last year, as confirmed by band guitarist, Stephen Carpenter.
Amidst a conversation on Gnostic Academy published in July of 2023, where Carpenter expressed his views on flat earth and more, he also provided an update on DEFTONES‘ forthcoming tenth studio album.
Carpenter revealed that they are once again collaborating with producer Nick Raskulinecz, known for his work with bands like ALICE IN CHAINS and MASTODON, for this upcoming record. Here are Carpenter‘s remarks, as transcribed by Metal Injection: “In the last couple months, really two or three months, we… well maybe a little longer now, really… February is when we started. We starting to work on new material for a new record.
“It’s going good. It’s a little slow at first, but it always is. Dragging our feet ain’t nothing new. But we’ve got the stuff up and going now, and yeah. We’re on a good little momentum at the moment and we hope to have it all done and out by next spring or summer. I mean, there’s no official date yet but that’s our goal.”
He also added: “Everything stems from us just jamming out some ideas, messing around. Someone comes up with something that maybe someone else or everyone else likes, and then we focus in on that for a little bit. That’s what Nick‘s great at doing, too. He’s good at… well we could just sit and jam aimlessly and plow through idea after idea without even stopping to recognize ’em.
“He’s great at saying ‘that idea is really cool. Let’s try that. Let’s try to work on that for a minute, and then that other idea might be really cool with that one. Let’s try putting them together’ and stuff like that. So that’s what’s awesome about him. He’s like a an unofficial band member at that point. He’s good at giving us direction where we don’t normally do that well on our own.”
The individual responsible for taking on the bass responsibilities for the upcoming DEFTONES album remains uncertain. Fred Sablan has been filling that role during live performances ever since the band parted ways with Sergio Vega.
