Legendary MOTÖRHEAD frontman “Lemmy” Kilmister has now had a portion of his ashes enshrined within the new statue of him at this year’s Hellfest.

The official ceremony took place yesterday (Thursday, June 23) directly after the SCORPIONS — whose current lineup includes former MOTÖRHEAD drummer Mikkey Dee — closed the day’s events at the massive, Clisson, France based festival.

Mikkey and former MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Phil Campbell said a few heartfelt words about the late legend and a tribute video to Lemmy was also played. Phil and Mikkey also raised a toast to Kilmister at the actual monument in a video which can be seen below.

MOTÖRHEAD played the first-ever Hellfest and continuously appeared at the open-air event ever since. It is therefore fitting that Lemmy will forever be present at the site, with fans able to congregate and pay their respects to him at every Hellfest moving forward.

The new Lemmy statue is the creation of French sculptor Caroline Brisset, who has exhibited her previous works in France and Belgium. Primarily inspired by energy over form and viewing the human as a subject of both fascination and fear, she constructs steel works that marry the concrete and the abstract to achieve a dreamlike effect.
