It appears that the upcoming ‘Pam & Tommy’ series, which documents the story of the legendary stolen sex tape belonging to MOTLEY CRUE drummer Tommy Lee and his then wife, actress Pamela Anderson, had cast someone to play the role of Tommy Lee’s penis.
Variety has reported that the upcoming Hulu series will feature actual character dialogue from Tommy’s penis upon his initial meeting with Pamela Anderson. Tommy’s junk will be voiced by actor Jason Mantzoukas, best known for his roles on FX’s The League, NBC’s The Good Place and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
The article states that the MOTLEY CRUE drummer’s member “pops up” in Episode 2 of the limited series to have a discussion with the musician after meeting Pamela for the first time. Something that apparently actually “happened” with Lee as detailed in his book “Tommyland.”
“As much as I’d like to take credit for that, I was simply adapting a chapter from [Lee’s] memoir,” says scriptwriter Robert Siegel. “I think it might be a first [for television]. There was gentle pushback, because you’ve got to push back a little when a talking penis is presented to you. But Hulu was extremely supportive.”
Executive producer Craig Gillespie tells Variety that shooting the scene was “just awkward,” explaining, “You’ve got four puppeteers working with an animatronic penis. And then, how much is too much, and do you start to lose his emotional torment of what’s going on? Hopefully it works.”
‘Pam & Tommy’ kicks off on February 2 on Hulu.
