Norwegian black metal band SATYRICON will be unleashing a brand new album this Friday (June 10), inspired by the recent SATYRICON & Munch exhibition which launched back in April at the Munch Museum in Bjørvika, Oslo, Norway.

The exhibit, which runs through until August 28, celebrates the life and works of Norwegian artist Edvard Munch with SATYRICON creating music to accompany Munch’s illustrations. That music was initially made available exclusively at the event, however the black metal group will finally make the record available to everyone this week.

SATYRICON unveiled the cover for the new “Satyricon & Munch” album on their official Instagram, which features a photo by Pål Laukli. You can check it out below.

Satyricon & Munch” will hit streaming services on June 10, with physical releases to follow sometime in the near future.

SATYRICON says in a statement: “It is release week and this is the front cover of the new SATYRICON album. As communicated previously, this is the music from the exhibition “Satyricon & Munch“, currently on at the Munch museum in Oslo, Norway. This album is a consequence of the making of an art exhibition, but it became clear to us during the process, that the music in itself stands on its feet and therefore we also decided to make it into an album. So purpose made, yet with the unconditional ability to live its own life, and hence you will be able to enjoy it on all streaming platforms worldwide from June 10th.

“Manufacturing time on physical products is extreme these days, so we are unable to give you a definite date on that, but the record company is preparing a wide variety of formats available to preorder simultaneously with the digital release on Friday.

“Lots of information will follow on the album in the next few days, so stay tuned.”
